Installation issues / Re: Diskless setup
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:06:20 pm »
The bios is setup right.  It does a PXE boot, contacts dhcp (running on my core) and then gets the tftp file /tftpboot/pxelinux and appears to load /tftpboot/default/vmlinuz.  It then does a bunch of things - gets an ip address, MD identifier, and runs a script /scripts/nfs-premount, then tries to run Diskless_Setup.sh then returns Diskless Setup Failed.  I poked around and found that there should be a /usr/pluto/diskless/%MD_ID%  - but /usr/pluto/diskless is empty.  Again, I think I have some serious core problems - any suggestions?

I think there are several problems - right now I don't think the core services are actually running properly.  No, I don't think my MD is booting with the fiire files, but now I think the problems are deeper with core not running.  Maybe also has something to do with this weird launcher screw up  I'm now very close to removing all pluto packages and trying to install again.  I just really don't want to have to reinstall the whole os too ;-)

Installation issues / Diskless setup

I saw this in the pxelinux.tmpl "/usr/pluto/diskless/%MOON_ID%"

1) I do not have anything in the /usr/pluto/diskless directory.  Should I?  What should it be?

2) the Fiire guys told me to put some custom archives in /usr/pluto/install/via.  How do I ensure these archives are used when my MD pxe boots?  What am I missing?

thanks in advance
Andrew

I installed kubuntu 7.10 and only added webmin and NXServer.  Then I installed the 7.10 RC2 via CDs as a core/hybrid.  I tried to pxe boot a MD but it failed at the diskless script.  I used the admin website to create a group for my MD to hopefully use a different boot image which I got from the fiire guys for my via based machine.

Before I could try to re-PXE-boot my MD, the core was pooched and check out the attachment to see all the missing buttons.  I manually ran several appropriately named scripts to try to get the server back and running. I pretty much tried every script with the word "start" in /usr/bin/pluto.

Any idea what happened?  Any idea how to restore the launcher (without reinstalling ;-)?

p.s. the attachment option doesn't work - says "Cannot access attachments upload path!"

Anyway, here's the attachment

thanks in advance
Andrew

If you have more than one tv tuner card then you can watch two different things on two different tvs or you can record one thing while watching another.  Of course if you need a set top box to get to your provider's content, then you'll need a STB for each tuner along with an IR blaster to control the STB
