I have the same problem with some of my A/V equipment when using CFL's.   I have been using them for about three years now and it has been an ongoing battle.  One thing that seems to work for me is to not allow a direct line of sight between the CFL and the IR receiver.  Maybe you can shield the USBUIRT somehow.

I have not received any notifications to monitored mantis items even though I know one was updated last week.  I was also missing the top left LinuxMCE icon last week but it is back now.  Currently the only icon that seems to be missing is the Chat icon.

Hi Joseph,

I'm glad this works for you now.

My first system user was a single word ie "Justin" so I created a second user ie "James O".  When I connected to DCERouter from windows and logged in using the user "Justin" I seen a share listed as "JamesO" not "James O".  So it seems that passwords can have spaces in them but not users.

Hi Joseph,

I have done some testing with users and it seems that if you use a name with a space like “Joseph Young” the user name will actually be stored as “JosephYoung” and the password will be stored with a space in it.

Try username “JosephYoung” with no space and password “Joseph Young” with a space and see how you go.

That must have been the fastest Fiire delivery in history.  Mine has just arrived and I will test it out when I get home today.

Colin, thanks for taking on the logistics for the order.

Mortar, thankyou for doing the leg work by getting the quotes and ordering the equipment.

It has been a painless and successful venture and we all have managed to save a considerable amount of money.

PS. Mortar, I will put in the remaining $6 into your account tonight.

Once again thanks guys.  ;D

The post bags are Express post and the dimensions are 400 x 300 x 70 and 3kg limit.

1xFiire Chief is 1 lbs, 12x4x2" that is about 300 x 100 x 50 and less than 500g

I have just tried a box that measures 300 x 200 x 60 and there is room to spare so they should fit ok.

Hipper,

Here is some information I found at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx50/ena/ug/advfeat.htm#1110703
I do not know if this will help or not but it looks like there could be an option under Integrated Devices in the Bios that will allow you PXE boot using the option "On w/ MBA".

Network Interface Controller determines whether the integrated network adapter is On, Off, or On w/ MBA. The default is On. If you select On w/ MBA, you are prompted to press <Ctrl><Alt><b> at the Dell logo screen during computer boot. A menu then appears that allows you to select PXE, RPL, BootP, or NetWare as the active boot mode.

Good luck

Users / Re: Wanna lose data!? Install Linux MCE!

Nuno

I assume you installed from the quick install DVD.  You probably should have read these instruction http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Download_Instructions before installing.

Quick Install DVD
This installs both Kubuntu and LinuxMCE at the same time in 20 minutes with only 3 keystrokes. You pick the hard drive you want it to install onto, and it will partition it, format it, install everything with default options, and set your location and regional settings using an IP2Location service. The DVD installer essentially takes a pre-installed image and copies it to the hard drive. This is why it is so fast and easy. But you also don't have low-level control over the installation process. Note: this installer will erase all existing data from the selected hard drive. The DVD Installation page contains a walkthrough of this installer

I am new to Linux and LinuxMCE and thought it was made fairly clear in the download instructions.

Hi Richard,

I had them spread across two directories.

Richard, I just added about 300 images to my screensaver using your script and it works a treat.

Great work.  :)

Thanks

Whether it works for you depends on how deep your renovation is going.

I am building in underneath my house and also replacing the cladding and roof so it should be relatively easy to install the required cabling.  Being an electrician with an IT background will also help with the programming and getting the C-Bus modules at wholesale price.

Mortar,

I received updated pricing from Smart Security Pty Ltd in Brisbane and their revised price for 5 or more remotes is $235.00 with a delivery time of around 10 days.  I have only heard back from one other Australian company who does not currently import the remote.

It is slowly getting down to the target price.
