Installation issues / Re: Additional Drive
« on: April 08, 2008, 07:21:30 pm »
I don't have links in there, all I see in the public is the standard folders (audio, document, pictures, videos, tts, samples and avwizard-sounds)

Not sure what tts is?  I don't seem to have any rights to do anything in it.
Is there a way to force LMCE to recreate it? or manually create it?

Thank you.

I'm thinking a symlink within the data directory would do it.  Being LMCE seems to want to control everything on it's own I would think there is a better way?

Installation issues / Additional Drive

Hello,

I'm trying to add a drive to my LMCE system and would like to use it just to store media.  My system detetected it, I told it to use it and said to use LMCE's directory structure.  I can see a couple directories that were auto created.  My question is how do I get media to it (I don't see it via the samba share), and how to I get LMCE to use media on that drive instead of the default?

Thank you.

So how does that happen?  and can it be fixed?

OK, making progress now...

I tried to manually install pluto-mythtv-plugin but got some dependencies errors.
Code: [Select]
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
pluto-mythtv-plugin: PreDepends: mythtv-database but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

So I tried to install mythtv-database
Code: [Select]
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  mythtv-database: Depends: mythtv-common (= 0.20.2+fixes14472-0ubuntu0~mythbuntu1+lmce1) but 0.20.2-2lmce710.0 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

I've tried to remove and reinstall mythtv-common but still get the same error trying to install mythth-database.  Looks like some kind of version issue with apt-get.  Any suggestions on how I can get it straightened out. (I've tried apt-get update with the same results)

Thank you.

Well,   I did a clean install on another drive, all went well.  But it had problems finding all my data, so just for fun I went back to my original updated drive to look into the DCERouter.log as chaos suggested.  Sure enough I found this

Code: [Select]
01      04/01/08 19:26:57.335           ^[[31;1mCan't open plug-in file './MythTV_PlugIn.so': ./MythTV_PlugIn.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory^[[0m <0x2b00a040ee80>
01      04/01/08 19:26:57.335           ^[[31;1mCannot load plug-in for device: 27. Be sure the file MythTV_PlugIn exists^[[0m <0x2b00a040ee80>

Of course, there is no MythTV_PlugIn.so file on my machine.  I would suspect a re-install of MythTV would do it, but I'm not sure how that is done.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Maybe if I knew how to remove mythtv I could go throught the setup wizard again and get it installed correctly.

Thank you.

Bummer we can't get this one fixed.  Looks like I'll move on with a clean install of beta4.

So far all upgrades have failed me.  704 to 710, 710 to 710 Beta3 and 710 Beta3 to 710 Beta 4.  I've added a second hard drive just for LMCE and will be keeping my data on a separate drive.  This way I won't have to worry about future failed upgrades and just go with clean install each time without having to re-copy all my data each time.

Anyone make any progress here?  I can't seem to find the post choas1965 mentions,  if there is any good info there could someone post a link to it here?

Thanx.

I did upgrade from B3 to B4 using the 64 bit CD's last night.  The upgrade went through fine, but now something is wrong with MythTV.  I don't remember the exact error, but when I go to "TV" I get something along the lines of, unable to play this media device in this room....
I'll get specifics on the error and look into when I get home tonight.

Anyone do a successful beta3 to beta4 upgrade (64bit)?
If so, did you use the DVD or CD's?

Thank you.

hari,  the topic is already solved.  I posted a link to a thread with the solution near the beginning of this thread.  At least now someone who comes across this will find an answer.  Unlike Zaerc's "edit a fie" solution.

[...]
so if the issue is resolved why do you spam this thread with personal off-topic's?

hari

Because there is no use for him to post if he can't help someone. Not to mention I'm going to defend myself against ridiculous claims. It's also good for others to know that there are some very helpful people out here and they should not be discouraged because they come across these kinds of people.
By the way, didn't you just spam the thread also?

Nice work venom,  I've been trying to fix that for a while but couldn't seem to find where the mysql password was or suppose to go.
Got my schedulesdirect working like a champ now, thanx.

Zaerc,
Nothing you say has content or specifics, it's always generalities.  That's the only way you can even attempt to have any kind of response.  Find me one false claim that I made instead just saying it.  I've already pointed out yours.

You talk almighty again about editing the xorg.conf, like "holding hands".  First off, you had no idea how to fix it, or you would have gave suggestions on what things to edit instead of pointing to a doc that would not help the issue at hand.  Second, it's not an easy fix. You would know this if you read the post and seen what he went through. There have been many people having problems with the 8000 cards, 1 has gotten it to work that has posted anything on it.  That solution just came about in the last few days.  And finally, not everyone is a linux expert,  not everyone will know what you know, or at least claim to know.  That's why they are here asking for help.

I know it makes you feel like a man by talking down to people and trying to leave an impression out here that you are smarter than everyone. Unless you can backup what you say with specifics, give some details on solutions there is just no reason for you to post anything.  Trust me, it won't kill you to be nice to someone.

Talking nonsense? no argument, geez.

First off there is no argument, and the only nonsense has come from you.  You have been proven wrong about the info in the doc you were so disgusted about pointing out.  Then tell me I need to "contribute" yet I was the one who pointed the original poster to the solution to his problem.  Then revert to namecalling, now you want argue about ..... well, nothing.

I've read many of your posts, some are helpful to others but most are just you being negative, making other feel as if they are putting you out because you had to tell them to read a doc (that doesn't have the info they are looking for).  You make claims that others didn't read something, yet you are the one who never read it.

If it's such a chore to read anything or help someone why are wasting your time.  None of your posts in this thread have any useful content, most no content at all.  You are even laughed at in the same thread but don't seem to realize how foolish and hypocritical you sound.  There would be more people around here to help out if there were less people like you turning them away.
