Users / Media Library gone mad!

A little problem I've been having.

I tried to use the automated media cover art feature, but something happened and now it has mis labeled my entire collection. I've just re-installed the entire system (kubutu live cd & 2 install disc process) but the library seems to have not been erased. I suppose i should have re-formatted it as well eh?

Anyways, my question is, where is this media information stored. Someone mentioned that I could access the db locally, but how. Also, it seems to want to overrule me on data after I attempt to fix incorrect information. I can go through a long list and see them back the next day with the incorrect information.

Any Ideas?

Ok, so I got everything installed. Some observations

-Original sources.list was quite bare. Restored from Backup.list and it worked.
  *was able to get xbindkeys and xautomation via apt get

  *making the config was easy. copying it to the named directory was bit harder due to it being outside the home directory. same for 'lmce_launch_manager.sh' do you have an easier way to do that? I eventually figured out the shell commands to copy them from the home directory back to usr/pluto/bin and /etc/ respectively.

  *restarted, but no dice.

do i need xbindkeysconfig?

Solved - Small note in your howto. the file created in etc/ is xbindkeysrc and the file it looks for on startup is xbindkeys. Once i changed that, it was working and im configuring the mouse buttons now!

2 people is good enough for adding to the wiki I think, as long as we clarify for noobies like me the best method for editing files as root.

Hey Chewi, thanks for the reply. I was actually going to add it to the wiki once I got it working. This is a really cool project and while im a relative noobie to linux as a whole, I figure I can at least help with organization and whatnot. Anyways, I have more time today so im planning to make another go.

Anyone figured out a solution for this yet? I would like to rip the dvd's but this is killing me. As a former sound mixer, sync issues are a killer for me.

tried this last night, but i seemed to have some issues with the dependencies.  Granted im new linux as a whole, but im not that thick headed...

Maybe im adding the wrong information into the sources.list?

day two...i think i need to go rtfm. install, compile..all new to me

yeah so because either im running on little sleep or some other cosmic reason, i figured out MY issues after my snarky post.

The hang was that linuxMCE was looking for a password that it didnt ask for. For some reason even though it detected the buffalo NAS device, it didnt ask for a password, yet when I went into the 'Devices' and said uses password and supplied the credentials, its working beautifully now.

Now if I had only figured this out last night...

I would suggest adding the Buffalo NAS solutions there as well, as they work out of the box with minimal effort.

Im using one 'out of the box' and almost a day later it is still NOT working... I dont mean to complain but the lite documentation combined with problems every step of the way is beginning to make me re-think linuxMCE.

I have been reading the forums here for quite a while now, but I never imagined I would have a problem so simple as adding storage. 

Are you using a Buffalo Storage NAS device? If so, what steps did you take to set it up?

-Plugged it into the network right after I opened it up.
-MCE noticed and wanted to setup sharing for the 'file server' 1st and the 'share' 2nd.
-Then, no files appear. No matter what. It refuses to look at the directory. Seems like an access issue? It seems to interpret the directory name AS the file and tries to play that.

Any Ideas
