Users / Re: Core Server keeps freezing
« on: February 27, 2008, 12:08:03 pm »
This happens to me every 2 weeks approximately, i've looked all over the place and i can't find
a thing in the logs nor a core dump so i guess it's hardware related.

troubleshooting those kind of issues is a pain in the b***

Installation issues / Re: wifi problems
« on: February 19, 2008, 11:44:57 pm »
  Hi Elitoh,

Wifi is not supposed to be supported, however you need to configure your interfaces files and add the following

auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wireless-essid YOUR_SSID
wireless-key  YOUR_ENCRIPTION_KEY

that should do the trick so you'll get connected at startup.

Installation issues / Re: USBUIRT -cannot get any remote to work with it
« on: February 17, 2008, 03:51:56 pm »
Select USB UIRT 0038 infrared receiver in the md page in pluto admin,
that sould do the trick.

before you get the  receiver to work you will need to select  the right remote or else  learn your remote ir codes.

  Hi,

it  seem to me like  AVWizard is trying to start but is aint able to.
try removing both  /etc/X11/xorg.conf and xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard

it this does not work try killing the Start_X.sh script and install the right  driver for your graphic card.

there is a nice  Diplay driver page on the wiki you can follow.

 hope this  helps,

Developers / building vdr plugin, need vdr source badly
« on: January 29, 2008, 04:09:55 pm »

 Hi burgiman, all,

I'm trying to build the stremdev plugin for vdr (apparently that plugin allows multiple cient support on vdr ).

I'm bupping in few issues since the plugin compiles perfectly, the streamdev-client plugin loads ok but theres no way i can load
the streamdev-server part.

i looked around deeply and it seem like vdr need to get patched, however i tried building from ubuntu source and the lot but there is no way i can get it to work with the actual vdr version since i do not know which patches it contains.

Please let us have the source if possible of course.

 Best regards,

Rafik

 Hi tushi,

log in to the host that holds the systar II and install dvb-utils ( sudo apt-get install dvb-utils )

then use the scan command as follow:

 scan /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-s/Hotbird-13.0E > channels.conf
( i use Hotbird and i had to make chages to this file looking at the frequencies ont my set top box, change this according to the satellite you need )

this should give you some output and let you know whether your hard setup is fine.

after this you can import the file into myhtv setup or vdr

if not let me know your output.

 hope to help,

Rafik

Developers / Re: How to compile vdr in lmce beta3?
« on: January 26, 2008, 01:33:21 pm »
  Hi all,

there is a way not to use a vdr plugin but just a module that pipe out the clear stream to vdr transparently.

there is no need to recompille vdr.

just send a private message for more info.

 Hi Zaerc,

your right but as some of my md's are not pxe compliant one has to do with what he has.
I'm better of using a usb stick rather than a disk and my Md is still diskless.

I tried playing around with disked MD's but it seem like all the changes do not get applied as if it was  diskless.

  Hi jesaipa,

it is possible to boot over wifi using some tricks.

You can copy both vmlinuz and initrd.img from the /tftpboot/ folder of your core on a usb stick.

then make it bootable using grub.

Once you can boot from the usb stick you'll notice that the wifi drivers are not available.
You can uncompress initrd.img add the wifi drivers and firmware to it and add iwconfig.

Once this is done you need to modify  the nfs script located in the initrd.img
and get it to run iwconfig wlan0 essid MY_ESSID key = 00000000000000

You will also need to edit the initramfs.conf file to change the device from eth0 to your device name.

I did this on one of my MD's and i cant notice any differences between wired and wifi so far ( i'm not using hdtv by the way).

if my explanations are not detailed enough please let me know.

 I shall document this soon,

Users / Re: How to deal with kernel oops and Core Hardlocks... ?
« on: January 23, 2008, 05:50:58 pm »
 Hi Bulek,

I'm not sure if this is related to your issue but most of the hard lockups i had were eighter hardware related or gfx related. on some of my machines i had to disable acpi and play around with the gfx related bios setting and also with memory timings.

  Hi burgiman,

Well done for the job done so far, the client server side of vdr is the next thing i thought about since i have 3 dvb cards in my core.

I looked around and it seem like the streamdev plugin offers the features we need.

 Regards,

Rafik
