Users / Re: recent update/upgrade keeps rebuilding the kernel
« on: June 07, 2010, 07:53:32 pm »
I just did another update and upgrade and the issue didn't appear.

I always reboot following update & upgrade as i have had other issues in the past that didn't clear without a reboot.

Less problems all around.

I still get this though.

W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net intrepid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 13551B881504888C
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

although it doesn't seem important.

This is the last part of my upgrade FWIW.

A couple (?) of years ago, I bought a Sharp AQUOS LC-42D64U.  The reason, it had a fully functional serial port with pages 60 & 61 dedicated to RS-232C port specifications including a nice command table.  It also had 7 inputs.

You may want to look at the Aquos range, or check others for FULL serial port with make sure the command table is comprehensive and supplied.

OK - did the update and upgrade again and it runs through the same uninstall/re-install-build kernel yet again.  I have deleted a bunch of extra, similar stuff to get to the meat.  I hope it is useful.

Users / Changing Private media to Public
« on: May 27, 2010, 02:33:01 pm »
OK - I have just searched the forum.  If the answer is there, I missed it.

For some reason, I created a couple of ripped DVD's as private.  So on those movies, I get asked the password each time.

How do you change them from Private to Public ?

Thanks...Martin

OK.

I tried dropping it to 720p - no change.

But having watched some stuff, it goes fullscreen for the adverts so I guess its the movie size.

NOTE:   when I was re-setting the resolution up, I selected 70Hz and decided I wanted to go back and set it for 60Hz so I selected no, I wasn't happy (or whatever it was).  But as opposed to the 0710, it didn't take me back to the start of the setup screen but started rebuilding the screens.  So I had to start over selecting advanced, set resolution with it rebooting.

No, I didn't do anything like that.

I'll try and do it again and copy some of the stuff.

One more thing.

When I play a HULU movie, it is as tall as the screen (vertical) but is only about Two Thirds the width (Horixontal).

The OrbierGL is fullscreen.

?

ADD:  its OK when I play a DVD or ripped DVD

Thanks again.  That worked.

Is this normal on linuxmce or is it because its still Beta ?

I'm not used to rebooting UNIX type systems, normally, service restart or re-read the configuration file is all that is needed bar a kernel upgrade.

Ref HULU, the picture jeks/pauses/well, not smooth every few seconds.  I'm on a Asus M3N78-VM.
