Could the software be changed so that it reads the bluetooth signal strength and you set a threshold per adapter which determines whether the MD considers the device out of range? Or is there not enough granularity in the reading?

Would you mind chilling out a bit? If it doesn't work reliably then to most people it would be fair to say it doesn't work at all. I know if I told my girlfriend that this would work perhaps sometimes then she would definitely say it was broken.

I asked a valid question about follow-me in general. I did appreciate totallymaxed's post. It was very informative. Thanks!

chrisbirkinshaw where in any of those posts does it say follow me doesnt work??? they said ithe fiire remote doesnt use bluetooth.

Doesn't that refer to Windows?

I see tearing on all my Linux MCE MDs. It's really quite annoying and I would like to find out how to fix it too.

Anyone know?

The softsqueeze player is supposed to be a full emulator. So it shouldn't matter....

Is there not enough granularity in the reported signal strength to compare? Are you saying that follow me doesn't work in any way on LMCE? This was one of the things I was most interested in!

Is there any hope of getting follow-me to work with this device? Perhaps a BT connection could be opened and used for proximity detection but the wi-fi used for the orbiter?

I would love to see this work but when I managed to get it to run it just said it could not connect to the server and could not find my sound card (alsa), though it does claim to support alsa.

I also tried squeezeslave but it appears this does not support alsa at all.

However although the post says to scan that forum for info I cannot really find any more info anywhere on the web which is of any use. Perhaps slimslave does not exist??

At any rate it would be great to have something you could run on an MD for mutli room audio. The current music player is simply useless... (it doesn't appear you can sort by album, or create smart playlists, or do any of the thinsg which make players like iTunes to useable).

I am not using LMCE for home automation but instead use other software (Misterhouse or Heyu) to control my appliances via the X10 CM11 serial interface.

This interface works fine without the pluto core running, but as soon as it is started I can no longer contact the CM11. Something in pluto seems to be upsetting the serial ports but I have no serial devices configured.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I have installed LMCE and am able to schedule mythtv recordings from the webpage (works fine) however the Hydrid Core/MD says "not available" in the blank box to the left of the TV icon when I click it, and the TV icon does not appear at all on the remote MDs.

I have checked the mysql password is correct on all the systems (I can connect with "mysql -h 192.168.1.1 -u mythtv -p mythconverg" from the remote MDs, so am not sure what is going on here.

Any ideas?

You will need to move all the recordings to /home/public/data/videos/tv_shows_1 (or similar) for Linux MCE's mythtv install to find them. You will also need to change the host in the recordings table and the capturecard table:

update recorded set host="dcerouter" where host="old_machine_name";
update capturecard set host="dcerouter" where host="old_machine_name";
