Users / Re: VDR Plugins How-to?
« on: May 28, 2008, 04:11:40 pm »
Cheers niteman.

I assume VDR headers is vdr-dev, but how do I use this to build a plugin??
And also, I assume I just download VDR 1.6.0 and NOT attempt to make / install, but just extract it and put the plugin into the PLUGIN folder and run make plugins?

If I just download and run the .deb package (if you fix it) do I need to Download VDR and headers?

abooreal, what did you change in the make file for x64?
Is the howto the same for x64 (apart from whatever you did to the make file)?

Users / VDR Plugins How-to?
« on: May 27, 2008, 12:11:51 pm »
Hi,

I want to get some plugins for VDR running on x64 LMCE, one of which is the lcdproc plugin. I am not 100% on what I should do to compile plugins in LMCE.

I have read this how-to http://smart-home-blog.com/writes/configure-imon-padvfd-in-plutohome but don't really understand what the VDR sources are, where the "<your_vdr_src_dir>/PLUGINS/src" is, or whether I need to patch the plugin sources as well.

I also notice that the link for the x64 pre-built deb package is no longer available, so can't do it the easy way :-)

I would be greatful if someone could give me a comprehensive step by step on this.

Cheers

Users / Re: Tv Tuner card question....Yes, another one =)
« on: May 23, 2008, 12:10:06 pm »
If it is supported by myth tv then you should be fine.
Best thing to do since you have the card at hand is try it for yourself. It seems like an old-ish card so chances are the drivers for it are already in the linux kernel so it may just work.

Install linux and enter mythtv setup to se if the card has been loaded

The drivers for nVidia cards can be updated using ENVY -> http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html
But its not an issue of old drivers (I think the drivers used in ubuntu 0804 are the same as in LMCE)
With UI2 alpha there is a lot of graphics overhead for the transparancy element of the UI. Dropping to UI2 masked does get rid of tearing.
You will notice in mythbuntu 0804 etc that the UI is very simple and so not hardware demanding.

Can you get any video through your capyure card from the sky box at all?
You should start by going to mythtv setup (in the computing tab of the LMCE orbiter), choose capture card, and see if you card is listed.

Also, what remote / ir transmitter / receiver are you using. And does it support learning?

Well, I will just have to play around with it. I assume the kewl.org driver will allow me to use the DVB-S part of the card with LMCE VDR (v.1.6) for the time being?

From this wiki entry - http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-4000 it seems that there is a multipronto patch for the 1.7 versions of vdr. So should be able to continue using my card when LMCE upgrades to VDR1.7?

The card is supported under the "experimental" section of DVB-S2 PCI cards. To get the card working with only S functionality for the time being do I just have to install the v4l dvb drivers without patching them etc.. as mentioned here -

http://ph.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?s=78b0b299797591a3233c9ed93f954361&t=633182&page=3

I assume this is still needed for the S2 element to work.

Installation issues / Re: Nvidia 6200 TC Tearing
« on: May 13, 2008, 04:04:17 pm »
I have also had tearing problems with both a 7300GT (512mb) and a 7600GT (256mb DDR3). Tearing only occurs in UI2 w/ alpha, not UI2 masked.

I also have an ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe, 1GB RAM and x64 AMD Athlon.
I wonder if it's something to do with the motherboard? PCI-e transfer bus?

Cirion, do you have the HVR-4000 working with LMCE? if so, how well? I am considering this card now over the nova.

Hi,
Just wondering whether DVB-S2 card support has been integrated into 0710?
I'm hoping to use VDR with a Hauppauge Nova-HD-S2 card.

Installation issues / Re: iMON PAD + LCD on Thermaltake DH101
« on: May 01, 2008, 02:21:21 pm »
Don't know until you give it a go.
But the pad to keys patch will not work as you will use a different lirc driver (You will have to select the imon pad 2.4g from the lirc setup menu instead of the imon pad/vfd) - you will probably have limited real functionality because of this (unless you assign other keys to up, down left right in the lircd.conf)

As for the setup in LMCE admin, again, you can only try. I presume that because the imon pad 2.4g is part of LIRC then it should work. You will need a different lircd.conf though to copy into the admin device data. You will find it in /etc/lircd.conf when you compile lirc in KDE.

I know there are patches for S2 in the latest version of VDR, but not sure whether the LMCE version of VDR will accept these patches. Will have to try I guess.

Also, I want to keep my DVB-t input from my nova-t 500, while also having S and S2 channels. Is this possible with VDR? I have played around with VDR only briefly, and couln't see anyway of having multiple inputs.

I used to use mythtv in LMCE and could have both DVB-t channels (from my nova-t) and sky channels (from my sky box -> pvr-500) on the same channel listing. Will this be possible in VDR (substituting my sky box -> pvr-500 with a nova-hd-s2)?

Does anyone know if this card is functioning in linux? And more particularly, working in the LMCE VDR version?

If anyone does have this working in LMCE, does it provide full S2 or only basic functionality? (e.g. S only)

Cheers
