Feature requests & roadmap / Re: First impressions and suggestions for 710
« on: February 29, 2008, 02:45:55 pm »
i dont see all those extra buttons as a bother as much as a challenge..  they taunting me to make everything work.  as far as customization goes i think we have to be realistic to the limitations of open source.  those kind of options take a lot of time (time = money even if it doesnt cost)  there are other options out there to do different things if thats what you want.  i think linuxmce should keep going down the path its on and only look back to tweak things.  right now i only use the movie functions and have no problem ignoring the rest.  and you actually get quite fast at skipping through items during setup

Feature requests & roadmap / universal remote wizard
« on: February 28, 2008, 05:13:05 pm »
i think a very nice feature would be a wizard to setup any remote wit the use or a uirt of some sort..  seems straight forward... press the button you want to use for menu, press the button you want to use for play etc...  then the wizard would capture each code and set it in mce..  i say think as i have trouble getting irrecord to work at the moment..

Users / Re: How to format HDs SATAs on the LinuxMCE???
« on: February 26, 2008, 10:07:48 pm »
just had to mess with it earlier..  you can either use a linux live install cd and use the partitioner or open up a terminal and use fdisk to repartition and then mkfs to format...  heres a good tutorial

Users / Re: How Do I add new applications to the KDE Desktop

i believe the add app was taken out of the desktop due to some programs causing conflict...  you can still load programs throught apt-get install, just be aware of possible problems

Users / separate hard disk with libraries not showing on md
« on: February 10, 2008, 12:10:15 am »
having trouble with my libraries and diskless md..  all my libraries are on a separate harddrive.  linuxmce did not detect them automatically so i had to link them to the /home/public/data/videos directory.  this works great on the core/md but when i set up the diskless mds the links arent functional.  ive tried linking the folders to a samba share of the libraries which gave me a link, but the link opened a new window through konqueror and couldnt load through mce.  is there a way to manually add directories to the mce library?  or a better way to link the folders to work..  ive checked all the permissions many times...  thanks
