Update-

I removed the lcd and ballast from one device and put it into another...  now both work great and I don't have the noise issue.

On a side note, has anyone tried a different NIC for these devices?  I would like to replace the 802.11b card with a 802.11g card, if possible-  (just hoping to get the audio screen to load faster).

Thanks

Any one know how to add the master controller to LMCE so LMCE listens to commands sent from the master controller?

I have an Intermatic HA07 that is sometimes used to control the lights rather than resuming an orbiter from sleep.  The problem is that the HA07 can turn on/off a light just fine (as can LMCE) but if the lights are turned on/off by the HA07 the status in LMCE doesn't change.  To be clear, if the lights are off (LMCE is stating they are off) and the lights are turned on using the HA07, LMCE's light status doesn't change- and vise versa.

My understanding, was that z-wave devices all talk to each other and, if needed, they act as repeaters.  So the signal should get back to my micasaverde z-wave dongle.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I have this board as well and can confirm that Seth's method works.  Something I found, however, was after making the mistake of letting the system boot to the AV Wizard on the first boot without making the NIC changes.  I completed the AV Wizard and house setup and then rebooted the system to change the NIC.  LMCE would not accept the new NIC and after about 30 min of fighting with it, I just reinstalled with the DVD (if I had opted to go straight to this option, probably would have saved me 10 min  (30-20=10)).  DVD installs are great....

At any rate, if you didn't do this, I would start there.  TO CLARIFY:  after the DVD installation, there will be the black screen with the blue lettering prompting you to remove the install media before hitting enter.  Do this and allow the system to restart.  Now, when the GRUB menu loads, there are 3 seconds??  to press ESC and make the modifications Seth mentioned.

FYI-  for those of you with a Tivo, or know someone that has one, you may see if you/they have these laying around.  My series 2 came with a dual head emitter that works excellent with my usbuirt.

I'm finally getting around to setting mine up-  how is everything going and, for now, how did you get your device template setup.

I have rev H4, if that matters.

Thanks

Users / Re: MythTv Tune Preset Tuner to Channel

For anyone else that runs into a similar situation, see this:  http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Using_an_IR_Blaster_with_MythTV specifically the "Configuring Myth Backend" section.

I needed to open up MythTV Backend Setup to see how my card(s) were named, but this worked for me:

ivtv-tune -c 3 -d /dev/video0

I've updated the wiki:  http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Control_a_TV_or_cable/satellite_box  to add the section.

Users / MythTv Tune Preset Tuner to Channel
February 10, 2009, 04:03:01 AM
For about a week, MythTV worked excellent with my cable box and the USB-UIRT.  Then, whenever I started MythTV I would only get static.  When I plugged the cable directly into my pci tv tuner (Hauppauge PVR-150) I see that I am on channel 15.  Trying to change the channel only results in the cable box changing to the channel I selected.

Now, I know MythTV needs to be setup to "preset tuner to channel".  I have this set to my channel (3) and I even have the "starting channel" set to 3.

Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions?

Maybe I did have it wrong...  I retried the "/usr/pluto/bin/TuneToChannel.sh 75 1" and now the keyboard works.

Oops- you're right, late night typo.

As it turns out, I don't need that, I don't think.  I am able to control the channels without that in MythTV.  I think that I need to add a keyboard as an interface that can control the USB-UIRT.  The reason I think this, is that without making any modifications to the mythtv setup (I only simply plugged in the gyration remote and adding the commands listed here (http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Gyration_MCE_RF_Remote)) I was able to control the channels using the remote.  That is to say that I can press "5" "0" "0" and the cable box will tune to channel "500".  There is about a 3 second delay from the last button press to changing the channel- tiny amount of time in my estimation we'll see about the WAF.

The current setup is, really, better than with a keyboard as that she's not going to be happy having to have a keyboard on the coffee table.  Now with something like this, other the other hand:  http://i.gizmodo.com/5147052/athena-sofa-is-the-most-comfy-pc-ever

What am I missing?

I have my cable box connected and it is controlled by my USB-UIRT.  By pressing F4 (or F6, can't remember) on my keyboard it brings up the EPG from Schedules Direct and I can use the keyboard, mouse or Gyration remote to select the channel I want to watch.  Everything is great- it tunes to the channel I select on my cable box from ANY MD in the house.  Amazing.

I can also use the skip forward or skip back buttons on my gyration remote to go up or back 1 channel at a time.  Also great.

What I can't figure out is how to tell the cable box what channel to tune to using my keyboard.  For example, if I want to watch USA I would like to be able to type in 027 or even just 27 and hit enter to go to channel 27.  Eventually I would like to get the gyration remote to do this (but I think I can follow this:  http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Gyration_MCE_RF_Remote) but I'll get there later.

So, anyone know how to control mythtv using the keyboard?  (BTW, I tried putting /usr/pluto/bin/TuneToChannel.sh 1 75 from here: http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/TuneToChannel.sh) and after adding that I couldn't start mythtv.

* Update:  Kudos to Glasswalker.  His alternate config here:  http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Gyration_MCE_RF_Remote   works great.  I too had to modify the volume like Seth....  now to get the keyboard working.

OK-

I got the codes entered-
http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/DCT_700

I can't help but think there is a better way.  Going from Advanced -> Configuration -> Device Templates
I can add "Motorola" as the Manufacturer and "Cable Boxes < AV" as the Device Category.  Then, when I hit "Add device template" and go thru the motions I am able to test the codes and everything works.  That is to say that all I had to do was plug in the USB-UIRT, select the above and test the codes.

Now, where do I go from here?  There are a lot of posts about the USB-UIRT and LIRC, but nothing clear on how once you have the device listed under "A/V Equipment" under "Devices" to get LMCE to use this.

Any ideas?
