hi,

i've managed to turn on/off lights with the new driver - but no dimming. What are the logs saying (/var/log/pluto/xx_EIB.log)? I think you don't have to read the states from the devices - when it listens to the bus and gets a turn on light it should update the state in lmce. Now, this don't work with the old driver. Sure, this is not very good, but i use lmce and eib every day. It's really cool when you sit on the couch and can turn on/off the lights with the nintendo wii remote control :)
i don't know if it makes sense for you to buy a new rs232 FT1.2...

hi lennox,

yes, download the file, replace the old /usr/pluto/bin/EIB (make a copy of the old one), restart the dcerouter.
Before you have to start eibd - i don't know the command with usb exactly. In the device template you have to add address and port (i think) - this are the parameters to connect to the eibd - not to the usb. My main Problem with the new EIB was the high CPU-Load - it uses nearly 100% of the cpu, so i removed it. I'll hope i have the time to make a build system so i can try to fix this problem...

hi colinjones,

i know the core is also a router and i read the Network_Setup Wiki Page. The reason why i must use two different networks is: my core isn't online everytime, so i have to use my wlan-router for my external network, so all the laptops (wife's laptop also) have internet - also when the core is offline...

By the way, i have managed the routes and everything works now as expected. thank you to everyone.

hi lennox,

maybe this thread is interesting for you: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=9052.0

Now i have the old driver online because the new implementation with eibd don't work i've expected. The old implementation only works with RS232 and it can't "read" from the bus... that's not very good, but i can control lights, thermostates and blinds...

thom, sometimes it must be difficult....  ;) no, the reason is, i must use two different networks. i know it would be much easier when i only have one network...

hey,

i just bought the DLink DNS-323, installed it and everything works fine. But can i connect my laptop (externeal network 10.10.0.*) to the Nas (internal lmce-network 192.168.80.*)?? I wan't to have lmce use the volume_1 and the other pc's in the external network the volume_2 for backups.

thanks

thank you. I found this docs: http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/browser/branches/LinuxMCE-0810/src/EIB-eibd/doc These are the documentations you have spoken?

yes, it would be nice if somebody did a wiki page from these files..

I have another question, i used the new Implementation from your server (http://vt100.at/files/EIB-32bit-0810-binary) Is this the correct file or do i have to check out from svn and compile it?

thanks.
frankly I don't know if this includes the latest fixes..

br, Hari

i can make a wiki page, after i checked everything... but i think i have to look at first to compile it, because i think there might be a "bug" in there. When i start the new Driver it uses 98% of the CPU...  :(

Hi,

i've read a lot about the new EIB Implementation with eibd. But i have some questions:

1.) (Newbie Question): How can i start eibd on startup?
2.) I only have to replace the old EIB (usr/pluto/bin/EIB) with the new one from hari?
3.) I have all my Lights, Thermostats and so on in the Device Tree and they are working very well. Do i have to change there anything?
4.) Is there now the possibility to read the values from the Devices? This is the most important thing, because i want to read and save the values in a database.

thanks in advance

cool. thank you for the quick answer. :)

i now use 1 disk for the lmce system and another four disks for my videos (in the core, but without RAID). The reason why i want to buy a NAS is, i want to build a smaller Core...

hey,

i want to buy a Dlink DNS-323 NAS for my lmce (810). My Question is: Can i run my core 24/7 and turn the NAS on when i want to watch the movies on them and after watching turning it off or has the NAS also be online 24/7?

thanks.

hey guys,

i tried what colin suggested, but this isn't a solution. When i move the file to a different disk, remove the reference to missing file in webadmin and move back to original disk i get the same inode number.
I also tried a lot of other things, but i always end in that a lot of files have the same inode. I moved the files from one disk to another (i have 4 hdds for the videos mounted under /home/public/data/videos)...

Is there a possibility to change the Inode manually and then resync the folders? Am i the only one who has this problem with more than one disk for the videos?

thanks.

hi,

i don't think that has something todo with symlinks or mounts. Now i let lmce manage all my disks and i get the same issue as before. I have two movies on different disks with the same PK_File - Id in the database. I think the reason is, these two files have the same Inode.

inode:

Code: [Select]
dcerouter_1001968:/home# ls -lhi /home/public/data/videos/SAMSUNG_HD103UJ\ \(sdb1\)-CORE\ \[65\]/ScoobyDoo2.mpg
67125258 -rwxrwxr-x 1 bind public 2,4G 2008-12-08 20:09 /home/public/data/videos/SAMSUNG_HD103UJ (sdb1)-CORE [65]/ScoobyDoo2.mpg
dcerouter_1001968:/home# ls -lhi /home/public/data/videos/SAMSUNG_HD753LJ\ \(sda1\)-CORE\ \[64\]/DasBourneUltimatum.avi
67125258 -rwxrwxr-x 1 root public 2,5G 2008-06-03 16:36 /home/public/data/videos/SAMSUNG_HD753LJ (sda1)-CORE [64]/DasBourneUltimatum.avi

I saw this on more than this two files. So, after a lot of work the problem still exist...
