So you have checked if the device is noticed upon insertion or boot?
a simple: dmesg

Would show a line like the one i posted above: FTDI ...........

[  880.651369] ftdi_sio 5-1:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected
[  880.651380] drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.c: Detected FT232BM
[  880.651640] usb 5-1: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0

linuxmce runs 2.6.20.6 and the only thing you would need in kernel is support for usbserial converters and the FTDI "variant".

so step number one would be to paste us: dmesg | grep FTDI

This is a "little" unsecure, but the password and username to login to linuxmce box is.
user: linuxmce
pass: linuxmce

To get "root"
just: sudo su

And you are now "root user"

Seems to be widely open to the lan, luckily it runs iptables for external connections.

Just checked out and can atleast confirm that lircd and irsend works very well not prohibiting linuxmce's own USBUIRT binary sending codes :-)

Meaning that for some codes which i can't get PRONTO code for lirc sends the commands (e.g to my hdmi switch)
And i can control this hdmi switch via other machines via a remote lirc socket :-)

And linuxmce still is able to control vol up/down on my reciever :-)

Edit: If you try to transmit via lircd and the builtin pluto binary simultanously lircd would die, but a quick restart would fix that and everything seems to work again.
lircd does not (atleast not yet) die if it never transmits at the same time.

Hi
[   14.702913] usb 4-1: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0

On my linuxmce install the USB-UIRT is connected to ttyUSB0 so try running this:
irrecrord -d/dev/ttyUSB0 new.conf

Havent read the complete topic, but are you sure lirc is compiled with the UIRT_RAW driver (if i remember correctly)

Try this i'll be monitoring this post to help a fellow usbuirt user :-)

Users / Re: LinuxMCE and Misterhouse

I would've gone for misterhouse (mainly because there is a very nice set of developers actively working on the project) and the mail lists are just so helpfull for everyone having a problem.

I've been using linuxmce since the day it first got launched, and i need to say that i'm very happy with the way it presents media, but it has to many bugs and to few updates.

What would be nice is to have misterhouse & linuxmce working together (shouldnt be to hard)
Misterhouse has the advantage of easy programming what YOU want, instead of playing around with the event system in lmce.

Any further process in this?
I'm looking into it myself, would be nice to have lmce running on ps3.

Users / Remotely start XINE_PLAYER (e.g wakeup)
« on: June 13, 2007, 02:11:41 pm »
Hi,

Have tried to make timed events, but not succeeded in starting Xine_player at a given time, will it be possible to do so on a given media director (the only one which also is the core).

Have been able to start mp3 music via timed events, and a playlist.

All suggestions are welcome, trying to fix a little wakeup system.
Where the idea is that misterhouse running on a different system sets the wakeup on the core. (e.g makes a timed event, or misterhouse launches it when it's time)

Best Regards

Just A WILD guess from the open,
but try to add a Gyro Airmouse device.

Go to the linuxmce admin page, login and select: Advanced, Configuration, Devices.
Under Core -> Generic PC as MD -> Onscreen orbiter  add a new device go cordless gc 1005,

(Look for the manufactor Gyration)

i had to do this manually for my GyroMouse, and since it wasnt detected AND the gyro mouse is a standard usb HID device, i GUESS that it should work fine with a 5button mouse.

Got it working,

1) I added child device, under "generic pc as md"
2) I checked dmesg to get what port was assigned to my usbuirt (ttyUSB0)
3) I edited the configuration of my new USBUIRT 0038 device, in the dropdown box i could select a PCI card and /dev/ttyS0
    -i did a nasty fix to this one, i selected ttyS0, then i removed & linked /dev/ttyS0 to /dev/ttyUSB0

I'm sure this can be done somewhere in the mysql table, e.g put in /dev/ttyUSB0, but i didnt find it at first look.
Since ubuntu uses udev, i had to add this symlink to the startup.

Result:
My USBUIRT is working Recieving & Transmitting, finally i can control my reciever volume with my gyration mouse :-)

Hi

My Gyration Air mouse did not get auto-detected, i added it as a Child Device under my orbiter, after that i could use the three grey buttons on it.
before it worked as a standard mouse with left & right click.

the right grey button which when pressed opens the lightning screen, can i change that to open the VIDEO screen ?

Since i dont have linuxmce controlling my lightning.

Users / Thumbnail / Cover-Art.

Hi,

I got a couple of music videos, would it be possible to automatically add a thumbnail to those, e,g after let's say 20sec out in the movie?
Would take time to do this automatically, and if i'd upgrade the media-library i'd allways have to add this manually.

Any thought/suggestions on this`?

Best regards,
