Installation issues / Re: MCE 1.1 Beta 2 and Nvidia Driver issue

is it a "great" problem or effort to look on the internet what  refresh rates your monitor is supporting? and then to input them in kde display manager (monitor section)?  i don't think so. i have also a monitor which is not listed in any linux distro, but it works very well as long as i put the refresh rates manually.

instead of gedit you can put nano which is a text editor for consoles. copy the text like in a grafical text editor. after you wrote the text in the file, press ctrl+x to save the changes in the file.

Im an absolute noob when it comes to linux (first time Im using it)
my proxy address is 10.27.21.4 on port 8080 and I also use authentication [domainname\username | Password]
How would I go about setting the config for the above...bear in mind, I dont even know what APT is.

open a terminal and enter sudo su command and then press enter. you will be asked to enter a password. you must write the password of the uset that you created. then, write in that terminal gedit /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/proxy and press enter. in that empty file write  Acquire::http::Proxy "http://USER:PASSWD@primary-proxy.domain.com:PORT/"; (replace user, passwd and ip address and port of the proxy). in that terminal, again, write gedit /etc/environment, press enter and write http_proxy="http://USER:PASSWD@primary-proxy.domain.com:PORT" (replace user, passwd, ip and port of the proxy). then save the file.

You need to configure your system to work behind a proxy. Configure APT by creating a file in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d called proxy with the following entry.

Acquire::http::Proxy "http://USER:PASSWD@primary-proxy.domain.com:PORT/"; [^]

and add

http_proxy="http://USER:PASSWD@primary-proxy.domain.com:PORT" [^]

to /etc/environment

if your proxy does not require an user and passwd the line will be "http://primary-proxy.domain.com:PORT/"

hope this works.

Installation issues / Re: different linux distros

nope, it will work only on Ubuntu for the moment. in the future, LMCE will be ported to other distros.

start myth tv setup, go to General section and then see what tv standard is set up and frequency. i tell you this because i had a similar problem with myth tv. all the set up was ok, but when i entered in General section, instead of pal b i had ntsc and us-cable :D.

37
have you entered in Mythtv setup? there you can make all the possible setups, like tv standard, frequency.

if you have a dvb external receiver it should be very easy to make it work with LMCE. you will need only a tv card which will receive the signal from the dvb receiver.

because the ipod can be used as a usb storage device also, it will be detected by LMCE and added automatically as an internal hdd.

you can rip your audio cd collection with LMCE and then transfer the music to the ipod. there is no special option to upload the music to the ipod but, LMCE is running on top of Kubuntu and you can go there and transfer the audio files to the ipod very easy.

of course you can change the monitor model in kde display manager. you have to find your monitor model in that list. also, xorg.conf is modified my linuxmce.
