Users / Re: DHCP Question
« on: September 13, 2013, 05:41:15 pm »
That's odd because the DHCP server clearly changed the IP addresses of the PC-type devices on my network that were set up to receive a DHCP address and categorized them as "Static" on the LinuxMCE DHCP server's admin page. That may just be the vernacular, but it detected my Slingbox and assigned it a "Static"address. It was the only device on the network that had a static IP set before I installed MCE. The IP MCE tried to assign it conflicted with the IP assigned in the device. It caused me an issue that only a hard reset on the Slingbox would fix.

I've tried looking for the DHCP daemon, but I can't find it. That's really what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I answered my own dumbass question. A hard reset fixed the problem.

Users / DHCP Question

I don't want to restart the DHCP server. How can I release both an active and static IP in 10.04?

Installation issues / Re: Cisco 8742HDC DVR

IR and Ethernet, yes. RS-232, no. I'm also wondering whether BrightHouse firmware will allow networking via Ethernet without subscribing to their whole house DVR service.

Users / Slingbox HD and Firewall Access
« on: September 09, 2013, 04:59:14 pm »
The Core detects my Slingbox HD as a Squeezebox, but I can't access it internally or externally. Watching shows or accessing the Slingbox is through a web interface that appears to communicate to the external world using an encryptyed signal regardless of where I am in relation to the firewall. I've forwarded port 5001 to the Slingbox, but still no access. Any tips? Can someone help me put the Slingbox into the DMZ for testing using the command line? I'm working in v10.04 and can't find any options in the admin interface for that.

Kind regards,

Beggers359 ???

Users / Obihai Obi202 as a trunk
« on: September 07, 2013, 05:36:02 pm »
I have an InphoneX DID working as the main line on the Asterisk server. I also have an Obi202 VOIP/ATA device setup as a bridge on the MCE network and it's connected to Google Voice successfully. Any tips on how I might connect the Obi as a trunk to the Asterisk server in v10.04?

Kind regards,

Installation issues / Cisco 8742HDC DVR

BrightHouse, my cable TV provider, has given me two Cisco 8742HDC DVRs. MCE isn't autodetecting them and I don't see a template. Any ideas whether this box will work?

Installation issues / Re: GeForce GTX760 - Failed to Setup X

CentralMedia - The driver updates worked like a champ. AVWizard started after first reboot. Thanks for the sage advice!! As for the beefy card, no offense taken. Thanks again for being interested. The box has 16GB of 2133 RAM and an AMD Phenom II X6 with an SSD drive. Way too much sexiness for this application, but it's just what I have available. I agree with you on the power consumption. Have you tried installing MCE on a DreamPlug or other appliance that doesn't require much?

l3mce - Here's the grep:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] [10de:1187] (rev a1)
   Kernel driver in use: nvidia
   Kernel modules: nvidia, nvidiafb, nouveau
01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 HDMI Audio Controller [10de:0e0a] (rev a1)

Thanks again to both of you. Probably the best forum experience ever. Good advice and a potential to help the masses!!  ;D

Installation issues / GeForce GTX760 - Failed to Setup X
« on: August 28, 2013, 12:44:59 pm »
Trying to install 10.04 using an EVGA GeForce GTX760 and a Gateway HD DVI monitor. Monitor is connected via VGA using VGA to DVI adapter on the GTX760. I get the Failed to Setup X error after installation when the the AVWizard runs for the first time. MCE works just fine with the VESA drivers loaded during the Live setup. Any ideas on how to fix?
