Installation issues / Re: Cannot log into admin webpage - refresh loop

Perhaps the LinuxMCE installer should make sure Firefox is installed...? :)

After installing FF, clicking the "Open admin website" button behaves properly.  Thanks!

Installation issues / Cannot log into admin webpage - refresh loop
« on: March 07, 2008, 02:09:36 am »
I've now got 0710 Beta4 up and running without leaking memory.  Now I have another issue - I was seeing this under Beta3 as well, but I was hoping it might have been due to something else (or had already been fixed).

I have created my first user through the admin web page.  When I try and log in as that user, though, I get the dialog you see if you've hit refresh on a page that you got to via a POST ("The page you are trying to view is the result of posted form data...")  Hitting "Resend" just gets me the dialog again.

Did I do something wrong creating the user?

Beta4 does indeed not display this problem.

Now onto the next issue, in a different thread...

Hehe, I will try that - last I looked Beta4 wasn't out there yet :)

I am running the 64-bit core on this machine, and the RAID-1 is the boot drive.  I've got a bigger RAID 0+1 which is still hooked up to the old system which will be the main storage, once I get it working...

Okay, well with the aid of "top" I've narrowed it down some - it's the "ushare" process.  It grows by about 1% of available memory every ten seconds or so.

Anything I can do to try and figure out what's really going on here?  This is on a brand-new CD-based install.

Er.  Does that also mean that Linux software RAID is right out?   ???

So LinuxMCE looks promising from the writeups, and I really would like to try it out... but so far I haven't gotten far enough to make much of anything go!

I've got an Asus A8N-LA mainboard http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00647121&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=1843642 with an Athlon64 3800+ (IIRC) and 1.5GB of RAM.  The disks are a pair of 500GB SATA drives in a software RAID-1 mirror, separate partitions for /boot, swap, and /.

After successfully completing the installation as a core-only system, I started the machine up and clicked "Open admin webpage", then got distracted by other things.  By the time I came back, the disk was thrashing and response time to anything - even just a keypress - is on the order of five seconds.

I'd originally had only 1GB in the machine and happened to be logged in as root on a console, and thus gotten to watch as the kernel started killing tasks due to running out of memory.

Is it really that 0710 requires more than 1.5GB of RAM to even run, or have I come across a bug?  How should I go about diagnosing this...?
