Users / [solved] 1004: Video list empty, search shows the videos !?
« on: July 30, 2012, 12:22:39 pm »
Hi,

testing the 1004 and now I would like to play some videos. Tried searching for the problem, but did not find anything.

But strangely enough the videos are not shown when i select Video. The list is empty.
They are on a second disk in the system.

If i then in the video list (empty) select "search" and press "i", then all videos with "i" are shown !? and I can then play them.

I had 804 running before that and there it worked. I thought that maybe was owner rights and set them all to "my user" and public. But that did not change anything.

Also in the web interface they are all shown.

The disc link Looks ok :

any ideas?

Users / Why is "Composite" default not "Disable" in xorg.conf ?
« on: July 20, 2012, 11:12:00 pm »
Hi,

testing 1004 I had a lot of tearing and enabled Sync to vblank in the nvidia-settings but it did not help.

So I did some searching and found out that I should disable Composite in xorg.conf - after that really nice TV playback without tearing :-)

Now I am wondering why it is not defaultly so configured?

Users / 1004 AV Wizard 1080p not working
« on: July 10, 2012, 05:49:52 pm »
Hi,

tested 1004. I could not setup 1080p 50hz in AV wizard on my MD. On the first boot 1080p did not work at all. Probably soemthing with the Nvidia driver beeing updated? (does it reboot after that? I did not stay with the screen all the time). I did then setup 720p and that worked.
On the second boot where i activated the AV wizard again from within advanced setings I could choose 1080p and it showed something, but I assume it used 720p size as the AV wizard was not completely shown a part of it was outside the "TV screen". this time I also tried 24 and 60hz, but the did not work in 1080p either.

I then configured xorg.conf with rates from here : http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:JudderFree

And then it worked with 1080p 50hz

MD System: Nvidia 8400 GS and Sony KDL-46W4500 - A little special setup at the moment - see also here : http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Sony_KDL-46W4500

L3mce, here the output you wanted, but from 0810. Is that enough or do you need 1004 (is not started at the moment)

Hi,

I have a request. It is already now possible to do this in 0810 using MythTV video plugin for playback of video content (see links below). But it would be realy nice if LiunxMCE could do this when playing media.

I am pretty sure that all of you have some kind of juddering (or stuttering) when playing media that is 23.97Hz (Hz is also frames per second) or 59.94Hz (NTSC) or 50Hz (PAL). Try all of them and you will see that in camera pan where the movie is moving sidewards.

If you have setup 24Hz and the movie is 23.97hz, then only every 100 picture will stop for a splitsecond. So you will have to have a pan in the movie of more than 4 seconds !!
At other rates the juddering might be higher! But I know for some it is REALLY difficult to see it. It is probably easier in the dark.

Here you can download some trailers to test with http://www.h264info.com/clips.html

The first "I Am Legend – 1080p Trailer" is ok for testing  - take it to 0:49 seconds and watch the top of the TV, you will see that it judders just a little when the movies pans up in the city or in the gras a little later.
If you setup xorg.conf as descried in the mythtv.org link, you can setup 23.97 hz with "xrandr -d 0:0 -r 53" (can be done though ssh) then play it again and you will see that it is really smooth :-) change back to 50hz with "xrandr -d 0:0 -r 50" or 60hz with "xrandr -d 0:0 -r 51". You can pause the clip and then rewind and change forth and back. I am sure you will then see the difference.

More infos how it is setup in MythTV you can see here (important is changing Option "DynamicTwinView" to "true" !!! ) :
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:JudderFree

My xorg.conf for 0810 is here :
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Sony_KDL-46W4500

At the moment I have really nice judderfree playback of 23.97Hz materiel and LiveTV using the above setup :-)
Only PAL 60Hz is not working (yet) but I might find the solution.

I suppose it should not be so difficult to test the materiel and use "xrandr - r 51" or whatever to change the rates. The biggest problem will probably be to change the AV wizard to support the setup of xorg.conf for this. Here I mean testing if all the modes are working.

Users / 1004 and setting up mythtv
« on: July 08, 2012, 01:19:19 pm »
Hi,

Testing 1004 :-) 20120623 build.

There is no "Mythtv setup" below "computing" anymore (as described here http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/MythTV#Setting_up_MythTV_in_LinuxMCE).
Also not in KDE below settings as described here : http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/PcHDTV_HD5500

So do we just call the script on the shell ? (I don't remeber the name at the monent, but will find out ;-) )

Is 1004 using VDPAU as default ?

Users / Windows 7 enterprise and samba shares does not work :-(
« on: July 02, 2012, 12:07:57 am »
Hi,

have used my old Windows 7 (work) PC for a long time togehter with linuxmce 0810.
Now I have a new job and a now I have an new PC. For some reason it ist not able to mount the samba shares public and my user.

I have tried searching for a fix, but not found any working yet. I don't remember what I did to fix the old one :-(

http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/windows/article.php/3849061/Use-Samba-With-Windows-7-Clients.htm did not work

Quote
C:\Windows\system32>net use S: /user:dcerouter\XXXXXXX \\dcerouter\public
Enter the password for 'dcerouter\XXXXXXX' to connect to 'dcerouter':
System error 64 has occurred.

The specified network name is no longer available.

A local mount on dcerouter with the same user works

Quote
mount -t cifs -o user=XXXXXXX //dcerouter/public /tmp/testcja/

This is the log:

After upgrading to the latest version I am missing the recordings in mythtv that lies on the RAID5 disks. The are shown in the mythtv menu, but without the picture and can not be started.
The reason is that the device is not added to the list of places to look for mpeg files, so it does not find the recordings.

In mythtv storage groups, "Default" and "Default: [Core]" only contains /home/public/data/pvr/ and not "/home/public/data/pvr/Storage1 [27]" which is the RAID5 device.

I noticed that in the web interface the drive has status "failed" - see also screenshot attached.
Can it have something to do with that ?
If I press "Update Status", then after some time it shows "OK" instead.

So some debugging.
took a look at "mythtv_setup.pl" it seem to do a query :
Code: [Select]
       ## And now add the directories to each extra storage device.
        for my $Device (@Devices) {
                my $Device_ID=$Device->{"PK_Device"};
                my $Device_Description=$Device->{"Description"};
                ## only configure if "use automatically" flag is set
                UseDB("pluto_main");
                $sql="SELECT
                        PK_Device,
                        Description
                FROM
                        Device
                        JOIN Device_DeviceData ON FK_Device = PK_Device
                WHERE
                        PK_Device = $Device_ID
                        AND
                        FK_DeviceData = 134
                        AND
                        IK_DeviceData = '1'
                ";
                @results=RunSQL($sql);
                UseDB('mythconverg');
                foreach $row (@results) {

And if I run the query it show me that  IK_DeviceData is not set on my RAID device :

Code: [Select]
mysql> SELECT                       IK_DeviceData,  PK_Device,                         Description                 FROM                         Device                         JOIN Device_DeviceData ON FK_Device = PK_Device                 WHERE FK_DeviceData = 134
    -> ;

EDIT:
I now noticed the line
## only configure if "use automatically" flag is set

And in the webinterface i see that "use automatically" is not set for my raid5 :(

Hi,

I noticed that in the mplayer logs the program /opt/pluto-ffmpeg/bin/ffmpeg was missing and found out it is in the pluto-ffmpeg package.

Is this fixed already ?

is there a way to get Xine playing the Dolby Digital track in a MythTV recording ? At the moment there is both analog and DD 5.1 (or 2.0) in the recording, but analog is choosen :(
For that reason I use MythTV replay as it chooses the DD track by default.

« on: July 06, 2010, 10:03:40 pm »

The recordings are added, but the Title and cover picture is missing, so the have names like 13003_20100706184300.mpg

Anyone seen this too ?

SaveMythRecording.sh is running :

Hi,

since updating to Myth 0.23 I can not delete a recording in mythtv anymore. Pressing the "i" key on a recording gives me the infos - previously it was a menu of choices. Which ióne of them were to delet the recording.

Any idea how this can be achieved with the Gyration Remote ?

Hi,

after the latest update my core is now not starting up the UI anymore. It shows a login screen where I can login as linuxmce. After that the UI comes up.
(If it is not crashing like in my other thread "DCErouter keeps dying")

How can I restore the old behaviour ?

Hi,

on my MD after updating to the latest version (after a long time without updating) i have the strange behaviour that /usr/pluto/bin/SetupUsers_Homes.sh is started and the following commands is run :

chmod -R 2775 /home/public
chgrp -R public /home/public

That takes forever and the MD stops at that place in booting !?

I suppose that is not normal ;)
