HERE IS A LIST OF PLUG AND PLAY CAPTURE CARDS/DEVICES THAT WORK WITH LinuxMCE AS OF RIGHT NOW  ;D

Im cranking out the DVB cards that will be plug n play with LinuxMCE but i need you guys help with some info and testing.
Current cards that i have completed are the HVR-1600, pcHDTV 5500, HD PVR which needs to be tested.
All templates for the DVB cards will have the analog side of the card disabled by default untill MythTV decides to fix their code.

So that being said what i need is a reply of the card that you use and the vendor ID, and the ports on the card, dont forget make and model

from term run

sudo lspci -vn
post your output for your card complete

if usb device then run
sudo lsusb -vn
post your output for your card complete

then run
sudo apt-get install ivtv-utils

install and then run

sudo v4l2-ctl -n
post your ouput for your card complete

also let me know if you had to install and compile drivers for your card and if firmware is needed thanks
you can catch me in the irc channels Linuxmce and Linuxmce-devel

Users / How to get MythTV working again .21
« on: November 12, 2009, 08:48:08 am »
1. Install Fresh from the beta1 dvd and select install LinuxMCE option.
2. Once Kubuntu is installed go into adept installer-->Third Party Software and uncheck the avenard repo.
3. Open a terminal copy and paste below and run this to add medibuntu and key to your source list/Third Party Software.

    sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list \
    --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list &&
    sudo apt-get -q update &&
    sudo apt-get --yes -q --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring &&
    sudo apt-get -q update

   Next install all updates.

4. NVIDIA - Get the latest Nvidia drivers 190.42 and install, to install log out of kubuntu and log back in as console and run the installer
and say yes for creation of xorg.conf goto step 5

INTEL - Intel Chipset and video add the lines below to your source list, go into Adept installer-->Third Party Software-->Add
           and add each line below.

           deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu intrepid main
           deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu intrepid main

Next Open a terminal copy and paste below and run this to add the key to your source list/Third Party Software.

      sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys AF1CDFA9

Next Fetch list and update adpt and install all updates.
Log out of kubuntu and log back in, in console mode and run:

      sudo X -configure

This will generate a new xorg.conf.new in your home directory and copy it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf

5. Double click on LinuxMCE icon and install
6. After LinuxMCE is installed and configured run below from a term for MD'S

   /usr/pluto/bin/Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh

7. Edit /usr/pluto/bin/files.d/fstab-diskless and change the last line to include the "

        mkdir -p "${Parm_RootLocation}/var/spool/asterisk <--- missing "
mkdir -p "${Parm_RootLocation}/var/spool/asterisk" <-- should look like this

8. Start your MD to create its diskless image once created it will not boot into X fix this by copying over your xorg.conf into the moons X11 directory

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /usr/pluto/diskless/##/etc/X11 <-- where ## is your moon number

9. Setup Myth and watch, this is myth .21 not .22 which has vdpau support untill the issue is resolved .21 will work

I have a template that is for the HVR-1600 and i am currently working on the blaster feature of it, i will summit it into the CVS when completed.

Hope this helps others out.

Users / Window Shares Keep Dropping ( Possible Bug !! )
« on: July 21, 2008, 05:32:37 pm »
I have 2 xp computers that i use on the network that i have enabled sharing.  I use these computers for all my .ISO etc and each share uses the pluto structure, now here is the problem the drives seem to drop all the time from the linuxmce system.  I have enable the ping and the disk online check box but the disk online check box dosnt hold after a system reboot etc...  I can see the drives and files if i recheck disk online and do a quick reload then all my movies are back but the system reverts back after awhile.  There are no spaces in my share names, Firewall is disabled on both xp boxes, power managment is disabled on both nics in each of the system, even bought a new gigabit switch so that rules out the physical layer, i am convinced that its a bug  <--- hope not and just something that im doing wrong.  Any help would be apprciated......

Installation issues / ISO PROMPT BUG
« on: February 09, 2008, 05:09:37 am »
Found this bug that if you install Kubuntu first then copy iso images to the drive for the install of mce, i copied disk 1 and 2 as iso files and then the kubuntu cd also so the install would be faster and have not to cache the cd. During the setup process it asks for the cds When you point to the first disk iso thats ok then point to second disk thats ok but the third prompt does not ask for the kubuntu disk but the linuxmce disk 2 again, i just point to the kubuntu on the third prompt and all is well.  I installed 3 time in this same fashion just to make sure and yes its a bug this doesnt happen if you cache from the cds and not use the iso on your drive, so its just a mistake in the prompt for the iso its prompting for linuxmce disk 2 instead of kubuntu disk .....

Users / Changed Core IP now md wont boot
« on: February 09, 2008, 01:04:02 am »
 >:( This is driving me crazy i changed the internal ip of my core and now my md wont boot but if i change my core internal ip back to the old the md will boot.

After changing the ip in the core i removed all refrence to my md from the director panel and the orbiter panel and removed the folder under diskless boot as so the core will find it as new, and yes dhcp is working i recieve valid ips for my laptops.  Is there a .sh file that didnt get changed when i changed the ip or a parameter somewhere ? any help would be appreciated.

Fixed the problem
Had to hard code the new cores ip address in the network_parameter.sh and the network_setup.sh for it to work and it did  :-\ thats ashame cuz you shouldnt have too
