I'm looking for some help for specific questions, but also for a general approach to setup. I have watched the video and read (and read and read) on the wiki and forums (not that I might not have forgotten some of the stuff I've read .

I've installed 704 a half-dozen times before, usually with mixed results. I just installed 710 beta3 - things are better but still not pretty.

Here's my equipment:

• Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard with AMD64 X2 4400, 1GB Ram, 400GB Seagate SATA
• S/PDIF optical out bracket setup and works fine.
• Hauppage PVR-500, only using 1st half to connect to my cable provider.
• Silicon Dust HDHomeRun, used for two sources of OTA television.
• Zapstream remote with included IR receiver
• Wireless keyboard/joystic combination with its own IR receiver (PS/2 based)
• ZWave ZCU000 controller with three lights.
• Global Cache GC100 that controls following three A/V components using IR:
  
  
  • Sony STR-DB830 receiver
  • Akai PT50DL14 DLP 50" TV
  • Motorola RG2200 cable box (connects to Qwest Choice TV over VDSL)

In my latest install attempt of 710 beta3 here's what I did

• I went through the setup wizard as far as I could, until it needed my A/V equipment.
• Exited
• Modifed the /usr/pluto/bin/gc100-conf.pl script and added my GC100
• Used the web admin pages to add my receiver, TV, cable box and Zapstream remote control
• Went back to the wizard and tried to define my inputs and sources. It would not let me define the lineup for my PVR-500->RG2200 cable source, only the two HDHomeRun tuners.

OK, I can watch TV via my RG22xx cable box, but not switch channels yet. I've had the IR switching for the cable box working before, so I'm sure I can get that handled with a bit of time. I cannot watch via the HDHomeRun sources.

My questions:

• Is there a recommended or better approach(s) for setting this up
• Why do I not see the S/PDIF and DVI outputs on my core/hybrid when I try and use the A/V wizard to connect the various equipment. I've looked for a way to define this, but do not see it. On the digram it just shows a generic input and output for the core/hybrid - unlike the specialized input/outputs for TV, receiver,etc.

Just wanted to make sure I am understanding the discussions I am seeing.

In general those of us in the USA should be using MythTV, otherwise VDR has some advantages, especially for supporting DVB cards.

In particular, I have a core/hybrid Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard, AMD 64 x2 4400 with 1GB RAM, a Hauppage PVR-500 connected to my cable box and a HDHomeRun for two independent sources of OTA TV. Using 704, MythTv would freeze often usually after 15 or 20 seconds of viewing. Will MythTV work "better" in 710b3, or would VDR offer any advantages?

I'm still waiting impatiently for my 710b3 DVD ISO for AMD64 to download - Its taken over a day and is only 75% complete. At least I've uploaded as much as I've downloaded 

Given a core/hybrid Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard, AMD 64 x2 4400 with 1GB RAM, is there any reason to stay with the i386 DVD ISO instead fo the AMD64 DVD? Will there be nVidia or other driver issues?

I realize this is a beta - just not sure if the AMD64 version might be more targeted at a heavy-duty core only server where video and capture drivers "might" not be as much of an issue.

I'm probably overlooking it in the doc, but does it explain anywhere how the Media menu on the orbiter is built?

I've figured out that chosing the top TV entry puts me into MythTV and then I just use the standard MythTV controls: Y to switch sources, m for a menu, etc.

But i notice another entry towards the bottom that reads "Qwest ChoiceTV Live TV" (Qwest ChoiceTV is my cable offering, sort of). If I select this I "believe" I am watching live TV, not going through MythTV - right?

But I would expect to see two similar items for the ports in my HDHOMERUN. Is there a way to add them?

I finally figured out how to unmute the IEC598 source source and I not get optical SPDIF sound for ONE of my sources (Hauppage PVR-500 svideo 1 port). But both of my HDHOMERUN sources only show video, no audio.

Any ideas on what gives? I'm using the ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard with build-in nVidia video, the extra SPDIF bracket.

I've got my cable box svideo port hooked to svideo1 on the PVR-500, my antenna is split/amplified before feeding the two ports on the HDHOMERUN. I was hoping to have three sources - with OTA HD on the HDHOMERUN sources.

I have read and read - both the doc and forums trying to solve this. My use case is very simple: I want to use the GC100 to send IR commands to my Motorola RG2200 cable box. I actually had this working under PlutoHome .44, but had so many other problems I moved to LinuxMCE. Now how to indicate which IR port on the GC100 to use eludes me 

I have used the script hacks to add the GC100 - it appears to be added correctly with an automatically added child device of "Generic Relays". I then use the "Create Child Device" link on the GC100 page to create my cable box, using a Template for the RG2200 that I previously created and added the IR codes to. Of course it gets its "Controlled By" set to the GC100.

The various posts indicate that on the Device Data for the controlled device (my RG2200) one needs to indicate which IR port should be used. I have GC100 with two serial ports and six IR ports. The RG2200 is on IR port number 2. The only port related Device Data appears to be a field labelled FK_Device_Capture_Card_Port. I have tried setting it to  values of 2 and 1:2 (the GC100 configuration page seems to imply the IR Ports are grouped into two sets of three ports).

Anyway nothing works - when I request confirmation it complains like so:

Can someone please put some screen shots on the wiki that show configuration for a GC100 and controlled device that works successfully?

Or any other help is much appreciated.
