Installation issues / Re: AVWizard Problem (Fresh Installation)
« on: December 07, 2017, 01:55:46 am »
I had a bit of free time today. I attempted a net-install on equipment I know supports nvidia-340. I edited and and changed all nvidia-xxx greater than 340 to nvidia-340. I have an nvidia 9500 card that requires nvidia 304. I have had driver issues in the past with that card. The issues are not the same. With driver issue AVWizard runs but video is garbled. This issue X starts and displays a mouse cursor then quits. It doesn't display anything but the cursor.
As a backcheck, I net-installed in VirtualBox. The behavior is the same and VB uses a different driver.

Well, I have been able to use the Admin site to configure the array. But, the array remains in the Degraded,Rebuilding status. There is no Block Device generated and no size or UUID listed. The command 'zfs get all' returns no arrays.

With help from devs (TSCHAK) the answer is to bulld the array in the Advanced/Configuration/RAID tab of the Admin web site. Easy and works great if you look for it. RAID!

I never was able to get net install to work. I went all the way back to nvidia-304. Nvidia says 8400gs is supported to nvidia-340. Still had same behavior on both drivers. There was an endless loop in AVWizard.
I found a very old snapshot that would install and did a ton of updates.
I hope OP finds the reason.

Installation issues / ZFS question.

I did a recent reinstall and added 3x 2tb drives. They are in a zpool of raidz. 'zfs get all' shows a 3.51tb pool mounted on /NAS.
They are mounted and accessible on mount /NAS.
They are found and presented for confirmation as new devices /sdb1 /sdc1 and /sdd1.
If I were to create a new top level device to manually add the pool, what device would that be?

I'm moving my server to a new location in my home and my system is apart now. I did a virtualbox install on a laptop and saw same behavior with VB driver. Before I took it apart I entered recovery and did lsmod. It showed nvidia module loaded and no nouveau. But that is in recovery and it is stable. When I can power it up again, what logs should I check?

I am having the same issue with net-install. I get flash of Screen with mouse cursor and flash of black screen and flash of screen with 0 in top corner. I am unable to get to a console. My card is verified to work with nvidia-340. I have done all the driver workarounds in and even removed it. I don't think it is a driver issue but i can't sign into a console because the screen with the 0 becomes a flash of the console too fast to sign into.

Dennis, I have upgraded to 10.04. I checked the driver that ships with latest snapshot and it doesn't support my 4903 id. I went to,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers and followed instructions for developer's approach of driver package. The new driver builds with kernel 2.6.32 with a warning about the old kernel.
It is working for me in LiveTV. No need to correct the picture. Mythtv is giving me errors about unable to connect to backend server and all tuners in use but no recording. I'll work on that. But the main thing is its working without requiring correction.

Thank you , yes that is the firmware that I have installed. The issue probably wont be corrected until we get to a 3.3 kernel driver. With the mythtv recorder controls almost to their limits I get an acceptable picture. With LinuxMCE patience is paramount.

I have that in a script, and it does correct the picture. However it must be run after every channel change. It also requires root privileges. I must sudo the script.
I am working on getting the to call my script. I am away from home now but I am going to try to setuid the script if Kubuntu  allows it, or find out how to sudo in the script without a password. This is not how it should be done, I'm sure. But ...

Edit: Slaps forehead in disgust. Inside Mythtv there are recorder controls for brightness, color, etc. They barely have the range but they do get the picture acceptable. So the external script is not needed.

Mythtv , HD-PVR and STB now work together very well. I've unchecked the "Don't Auto-Configure" box in Mythtv-Plugin and don't have the issues I did before.

However , the saturation and brightness issues are horrible. I found the v4l2-ctl commands to correct the picture but they revert on every channel change.

I wrote a script to fix the picture, but haven't found a way to have it called. I'm sure this has been covered some where. I just can't find it.

Sorry, I had to turn off Mythtv Plugin auto config because I have a single tuner HDHomeRun. It sees it as a two tuner card and causes Mythtv to error. I didnt think of it until I read your post. I let Myth Plugin auto-config then turn it off and enter mythtv-setup and delete the second tuner. I left it off and thats probably why it didnt pick up the new equipment. Thanks for alll the great work you do on the project.

I am running Linuxmce 8.10 final. I have a hybrid and 2 media directors, 1 a PC, the other a HTPC.
I have a single tuner HDHomeRun and a gc100 controlled by the core located at the HTPC.

I recently purchased an HD-PVR 1445. It is located at and controlled by the core.
I have recompiled driver hdpvr to recognize the device ID , 4903. It is setup in Mythtv and provides video and audio. The component input is from a verizon fios stb.
The stb is set up as an AV device controlled by a usb-uirt. The usb-uirt is controlled by the core. I can manually send ir commands to the stb from the Infrared codes button on the orbiter,
through the usb-uirt, and it changes channels.
My problem is how to get Mythtv to control the channel change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
