Installation issues / Re: AV Wizard does not run - 10.04
« on: January 05, 2012, 03:04:44 am »
Sorry, I already blew it away.  It has an Intel Graphics GPU (GMA X4500) and ALC887 HD Audio which both worked under 8.10 but not under 10.04.

No joy.  It occurred to me that when Sarah was running me through the initial set up, I had sound then.  I just reinstalled my ASUS audio drivers and still no change.  I'm going to rebuild and try it again with a fresh install.  I'll post again to let you know if it worked or not.

Ok, I edited the log above and my hardware is:

ASUS P5G41T-M LX Motherboard with 4GB SDRAM and a 2.4 Ghz Dual-Core Intel LGA-775 CPU
It has an Intel Graphics GPU (GMA X4500) and ALC887 HD Audio
I was running the final release of 8.10 LMCE on the system, but MythTV was giving me issues on my MD's so I decided to try 10.04 to get a later version of MythTV as well as some other features.

Running alsamixer didn't work.  I got the following:

dcerouter_1024693:/var/log/pluto# alsamixer
cannot load mixer controls: Invalid argument

I've got other sound cards I could install vs. the one on the motherboard.  I didn't try the rest of your suggestion since it wasn't working past alsamixer..

Should I try another sound card or do you want to gather more information before I try that?  It was working fine under 8.10 (both video and audio)

Thanks!

Sure thing.  Here you go.  This was the last log entry from when I did the reboot with AVWiz script per your suggestion..  All of the log files are about the same in size.  I'm posting the last one, but if you want the first log, I can post it as well.  The system was built and rebooted this morning, so the 9:49 entry is the first boot with LMCE installed:

Thanks..  I checked and all of those packages are already installed.  I did the reboot script and it still just went straight into UI1 w/o bringing up the AV Wizard..

(apt-get update was done first)

Installation issues / AV Wizard does not run - 10.04
« on: January 02, 2012, 11:26:29 pm »
I've just completed a fresh install of 10.04 and after I ran the install script and rebooted, the system went straight into LMCE with UI1 and never prompted for the AV Wizard.  I've tried the following with no joy:

- Hold shift key down during boot cycle - no joy
- Run command line to start AV wizard (/usr/pluto/bin/AVWizard_Run.sh) - no joy
- Edit /etc/pluto.conf to launch AV Wizard - no joy
- Edit /etc/pluto.conf to launch as first boot - no joy
- From the Advanced Menu, selected Audio and Video Wizard - no joy

Basically, I can't get the AV Wizard to run at all.  It never gives me an error, it just doesn't run.

Any thoughts before I blow it away and re-install??

Thanks!

Users / Re: CM15A... does it work in LinuxMCE?
« on: December 23, 2011, 07:40:34 pm »
I'll add that the CM-15A is completely plug and play.  I use it at home, and it is automatically detected by LMCE.  The interface performs some basic macro-type functions, timer-based functions, and the easy on/off stuff.  It's a bit harder to configure than the SmartHome software, but the convenience of integrating with the rest of the AV gear is very nice.  Plus, you can control all of your lights via any TV in the house.  I have two CM15A's to offset some of the configuration hassle with LMCE.  One is plugged into LMCE, the other is plugged into an XP system.  I use the XP system to do some of the more complex functions that I couldn't figure out how to do in LMCE for the X10 gear.  I'm sure there is a way to do it all in LMCE, but I couldn't find it easily.  It was worth buying another CM15A on EBay so I could get all of the functionality I needed.

Installation issues / Re: Hulu unable to find flash
« on: December 14, 2011, 12:27:28 am »
That's the problem.  It doesn't exist..  Here's all of the files on the MD with the word 'flash' in them

/usr/share/doc/flashplugin-nonfree
/usr/share/app-install/desktop/flashplugin-nonfree.desktop
/usr/share/lintian/overrides/flashplugin-nonfree
/usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so

I've since blown away the LMCE system to try another.  The last round of updates made the system unstable, even with a rebuild, so I'm not sure if it's my configuration or what.  Either way, I'll revisit this again at a later date.

Thanks for the help.

Users / Re: mysqld high cpu after rebuild
« on: December 05, 2011, 04:50:11 am »
Thanks posde.  It didn't make a difference, but I killed the mysqld process and it started behaving after that.  If I reboot, it hangs again, but after I kill it, all is well.  Mysqld restarts and runs under 20% with a few spikes to 80% or so, but so far it's behaving.  Not sure why it spikes after a reboot.  This latest version of LMCE just doesn't seem as stable as the previous version about 6 months ago.

Any thoughts?  I've built another MD image and it's still the same issue.

Users / mysqld high cpu after rebuild
« on: December 04, 2011, 03:59:17 am »
I just rebuilt my core due to a motherboard failure, and now I notice mysqld is always running at 70% or better.  I've ran mysqlcheck/repair/optimize on all of the tables, but still no change.  Any ideas on what would be causing it to run so high?  This happens all the time, and it doesn't matter if I'm watching MythTV or not.  None of my MD's are even on and it still runs high.  MythTV is not running as well either.  It tends to crash a lot, or just have jittery video.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Ordinarily, I'd agree with you Thom, but in this case it's not working like it should.  I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the hulu player on the MD, but still get the same error when I run Hulu from the Orbiter.  If I edit the /root/.huludesktop file to point to the correct location in an effort to fix it, it gets overwritten when I launch hulu.  If I can figure out what it overwriting it, I can change the path there.  Any idea on what is overwriting the config file when I launch it?

Strangely enough, if I open Firefox and go to hulu.com, I can watch TV there fine.  The browser knows where flash is, but huludesktop does not.

Help!

Yes, flashplugin-nonfree is installed, but Hulu can't find it.  Do you know where I can change the hulu config to tell it to point to flash-nonfree?

Installation issues / Hulu unable to find flash
« on: November 30, 2011, 04:05:00 am »
I recently had a mobo failure in my core, so I've done a clean rebuild of LMCE 8.10 using the final ISO.  When I install Hulu player on a media director and launch it, it pops up a box that says:

"Hulu Desktop could not locate the Flash plugin
If you already have it installed, please modify ~./huludesktop with the correct location of libflashplayer.so"

~./huludesktop has the following:
[display]
fullscreen = FALSE
width = 640
height = 480
pos_x = 0
pos_y = 0

[remote]
lirc_device = /tmp/hulu_lircd
lirc_remote_identifier = mceusb
lirc_release_suffix = _UP
lirc_repeat_threshold = 10
button_name_up = Up
button_name_down = Down
button_name_left = Left
button_name_right = Right
button_name_select = OK
button_name_menu = Home

[flash]
flash_location = /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so

[screensaver]
suspend_script = (null)
resume_script = (null)

[version]
latest = (null)
eula_version = 1

If I edit the location to point to where libflashplayer.so is located, it still fails.  When I go back to ./huludesktop, the file has been restored to the original version and my changes are gone.

flashplugin-alternative.so does not exist anywhere on the MD.  All I have is flashplugin-nonfree and libflashplayer.so.  Before the crash, when I built an MD, I had to manually install Flashplayer 10.2 via dpkg, but that file is no longer available on the adobe website.

Where can I modify LMCE Hulu to point to the correct libflashplayer.so file?

Thanks

Yep, my problem was the same as the other post.  Same issues, but were fixed by changing the codes for the Go Mouse device template.  I'm glad someone else was having the same problem for once.  Thanks!
