Hi, I am slowly plugging away at setting up my LMCE and I feel your pain! :-[ :-[

Can you post your system specs?  I had an issue with a Sony VAIO laptop, older model, and it took a LOOONG time to finally boot up.  Also, is this for a Core/MD (Hybrid scenario)?

Now that the Sony VAIO laptop does a network boot, I will need suggestions for wireless remotes, IR or bluetooth?  Wireless Gyro mouse or MS remote?

Suggestions appreciated!!! ;D

I wanted to let you know that I left the Sony VAIO connected to the network and eventually (many hours later) I got the connection screen to setup the Video and Audio Wizards!!!

So, I was able to stream video and Audio content to the bootless MD!!!

 :D :D :D

Giving an update!

Yes, one directory under /usr/pluto/diskless

That's 55.

Should I delete it and try to have MD try to connect and setup a new file?

Hi rbarara,

It's great that you have the database component solved.  Since you described the problem pretty clearly, would you be able to present how you resolved the issue, for those of us who may or may not come across a similar issue?

 :)  Thanks....

Had the same thing happen when I went into KDE Desktop!!!  Actually, the screen started moving horizontally just a little then alot and the mouse was still only referring to the original position of the screen.

I am trying Z's link as well....

Installation issues / Re: HW for Core with no PVR - Will this work ok?
« on: October 04, 2007, 05:37:31 pm »
Alot to chew on!!!

Very clear tho' daniel.

I haven't gotten to the MD working stage yet, with a network boot scenario but I have a PIII as well with 1 gig of ram and Dual NIC's on my Core with the output only to a 15'' monitor just for my testing.

Now, can you explain to me what is this Sky TV analog connection you have? ???

I have Charter analog/basic cable and am wondering if this will work on the MD to be networked to other MD's as well.

How's it goin' poyon?!?

Did you get your Core up and working?

Do you have existing media on HDD already or do you need to convert it to data?  I'm wondering how the Core will take existing data off existing HDD as opposed to the Core doing the processing itself.

Any insight on your installation may help other poyon!

Hope all goes well! ;D

Hey, Rancid_elf!

In the LinuxMCE admin web browser page, at the top under Files and Media then Media Browser, you have several Check boxes related to the media itself.

Hope that help!

I'm not sure if this will help, but you still have access to Kubuntu from the LMCE GUI.

From there, you also have a Konsole shell you can run and can apt-get components off the repositories.

I have done this on my LMCE Hybrid.  As to updates/upgrade of Kubuntu, I would guess it would be this way?  I haven't had a need to do that yet.

Hope that helps.

Great post Racid_elf!

Your explainer is a good overview of a network setup with a static IP setup from the Core.  Very helpful!

I haven't gotten to the bridge you are at yet, but hopefully someone will be able to help out, like Z!

24 M ADSL ????   :o :o :o :o

I salivate in your general direction!!! ;D

Nope.  I did my first install with the DVD and haven't tried it with the CD combo.  I was going to ask YOU how you did it from a CD combo if you were going to do it that way! ::)

You are going to have the PC and HDD dedicated for the LMCE?

Thanks for the response Z!   :)

I have the following in the /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg default file:

DEFAULT Pluto
LABEL Pluto
KERNEL default/vmlinuz
APPEND root=/dev/nfs acpi=off vga=normal initrd=default/initrd ramdisk_size=10240 rw ip=all apicpmtimer

And that's it.  It doesn't make allusion to a specific IP address range directly.  Unless it is at the end of the APPEND line.

I'll continue searching how to modify this file.
