Thanks for the information.  As far as the wiki is concerned, all of the mobos in media directors are in the wiki already.  Most are of the "works as media director not as core" type.

Installation issues / Compatible Mother Boards
« on: August 06, 2008, 03:37:43 pm »
I'm requesting help on finding a mobo that works well with 0710.  The motherboard in my Core Media Director died.  The list of motherboards in the wiki are somewhat archaic.  I have six motherboards in Media Directors, but none seem to work as a Core Media Director under 0710.  I would prefer a model and brand of motherboard that a member is actually using as a core media director under 0710.  I've learned through experience that a lot of boards that should work don't.

Installation issues / Beta 4 and diskless MD
« on: April 13, 2008, 08:32:05 pm »
I had a core/md and two diskless MD's running and then upgraded to Beta4.  Since then I have reinstalled the diskless MD the following two problems.  First, I had to reinstall the diskless MD's and each required several tries but finally succeeded. Secondly, when I shut down the diskless MD's and tried to restart them each will time out.  I have deleted them several times reinstalled with some failures and retries and finally got them to install again.  After turning them off, once again they will time out.

Installation issues / Re: K9NGM3 Media Director
« on: March 11, 2008, 04:30:46 am »
Apparently the Sharp Aquous and the K9NGM3.  I've noticed that the Sharp automatically recognizes the computer input as 1024 x 768.  Upon starting the diskless setup, any choice of a resolution setting (including 1024 x 768) during diskless setup results in the Sharp's screen showing the setup screen  pushed far to one side and and well short of the top and bottom.  A black frame appears on one the left side and top and bottom.  The "OK" button on the setup screens is not visible since it would be below where the picture ends, well short of the bottom of the screen.  I have tried setting the output values in bios to both of the NTSC settings neither made a difference.  Any choice of resolution or Hz setting results in an image that presents the setup screen as broken up in to "splinters" breaking the screen up into multiple, but unreadable overlayed partial copies of the setup menu.  I am using the HDMI output.

I'm happy for you, but it doesn't help me much.  The screen is a Sharp Aquous.  I've tried every settings given in the MD setup.  The default settings for hdmi produces a smaller than full screen size and cuts off the bottom of the setup window.  Any other settings results in a completely unusable result.    I've tried every setting  I have deleted the MD from the core and reinstalled being sure that the Sharp was on during reinstall.  I've had not success.

Installation issues / K9NGM3 Media Director
« on: March 09, 2008, 04:18:45 am »
I 've been trying to use a K9NGM3 as a diskless Media Director using the HDMI output connected to a Sharp LC 37D62U LCD.  During setup, the picture is set off to one side and bottom in such a way setup cannot be completed.  Adding an regular lcd monitor allows me to go through setup, but I cannot move the picture on the sharp to the middle of the lcd tv screen.  Any suggestions?

Thanks a million.  It worked!  This is a lot of fun and frustration.  Crying one day and rejoicing the next.  Thanks to you and everybody else for the help.

I followed your suggestions.  I did get the setup screen and went through the setup.  Everything seemed to be going well until the end.  I got the menu screen with tabs and a button to push labeled mediastation (I believe that what it said hard to read on the lcd tv).  Pushing the button only resulted in a message saying that the mediastation could not be started.  This unit is an linuxmce blessed motherboard and processor.  Any ideas?

Users / network boot Asus M2NPV-VM

I switched from a hybrid core to a dedicated core.  I was changing the ASUS into a diskless media director, but can't seem to get it to network boot.  I am already booting a couple of diskless media directors on the network so I know the core is assigning ip addresses..  I've checked all of the network cables using a cable tester.  Everything checks out as okay.  I took for granted it had something to do with bios settings, but I can't find a combination that will allow the network boot.

Installation issues / Installing a core
« on: February 02, 2008, 10:55:35 pm »
After dealing with a hybrid for a while, I've decided that a dedicated core would be better for me.  My problem is I can't seem to install just the core.  Is there another download needed to install just the core?

Installation issues / Re: windows shares
« on: January 18, 2008, 05:44:21 am »
I see what you are saying and I have found the public folder and subfolders for video etc.  Moving the the files into this folder would be the easy solution, but I added the raid to an existing windows installation with a small C drive.  Hence the public folders are on a drive with a 100 gb and the media files are on a raid of 750 gb.  I guess it time to rebuild.

It added the files in the regular shared documents folder on drive C of the windows machine.  It does not add the files under the raid (E under windows).  Sharing on the raid is enabled with allow users to change the files enabled as well.  All videos on on E are individual files (not in folders).  Music and photos are in folders by artist and month respectively.  smb returns nothing.  I'm trying to avoid a reinstall because a couple of media directors are already set up.  However I will as a last resort.  Is there a way delete the shares off of the Master Media Director and let the media director try to find them again?

Installation issues / Multiple video out feeds.
« on: January 16, 2008, 04:54:44 am »
Is it possible to have multiple video out feeds from a single media director?  I have a director connected to a lcd tv, but would also like to have the same view on a computer monitor.
