We shouldn't worry about the phone-costs.... 

I could provide a Teamspeak-server and if needed Ventrilo too (which are both already running 24/7 on a fat backbone).
All you would need is the Windows or Linux client (http://www.goteamspeak.com/?page=downloads) and a headset.

You don't need to setup motion manually. That's confusing

1. Goto webadmin, left frame bottom "Show devices tree".
2. click on [ + ] CORE
3. click on "The core/hybrid"
4a. choose in the right frame "Create Child Device" -> new page: click on "Pick Device Template"
4b. choose in dropdown-box "Device Template": "Motion Wrapper" then button next to that box again "Pick Device Template"
...done...
5. Quick restart router and lmce will download the needed motionpackages and configure the stuff behind...

again steps 1-2

6. now click on  [ + ] "The core/hybrid"
7. click on "Motion Wrapper" then step 4a again
9. choose now "Generic analog camera" like you did in step 4b

10. when the cam is added, paste the following in the "Configuration"-textbox at the bottom:

netcam_url yourURLstring_to_access_the_cam_pic    (for example) http://192.168.80.250/cgi-bin/snapshot.jpg)
netcam_userpass username:password

save .. and you are done.
Quick restart router and don't forget to change the security sensors in webadmin.

ok, since i changed the lmcevdr package there are new binaries and devs there.
do a:

apt-get update
apt-get install --reinstall lmcevdr
apt-get install vdr-dev

then you are able to compile the plugins from the stable 1.4.x branch.

if you just want to compile plugins you can do that in the usual way.

But if you want to recompile vdr itself you will have to wait for the real release, cause there are no diffs in the testing stage there.
We changed too much inside vdrsources for beta and testing and will prepare the svn / lmcevdr-changes AFTER the stable 0710 release.

your are right with your hot-hack to get that working on a md.
but you will get always the same pic and osd on md and hybrid with that method, because it uses piping or broadcast-stream of the hybrid.

thats not the concept behind a server-client version having the same screens at the same time.
it's not that easy to get all vdr-standard features, extended with plugins and of course lmce-specific dce-functions under one hood....

believe me - i did the whole vdr integration till now and we are still working on a real server-client lmce version
