I'm not suggesting that population of this data is done automatically, the issue is that for classical music the regular format of artist - album - track is not enough information, the addition of the composer tag would really be the minimum as other info such as conductor, venue, etc is also very useful.
Not really, no...
Other than that I've never had a lot of faith in the Meta data... In my experience, it is pulled off the web, and can be very wonky (Andrew Lloyd Webber example above, plus 2 CDs in the Rolling Stones Greatest Hits 2 CD set, with completely different info, almost as if they were from 2 different collections).
QuotePlus, although not for Audio, but for Video, I've never had any of my DVD rips identify correctly by any media center software (I mostly rip the movie only to AVI, or mp4, rather than copy full ISOs, for space saving reasons). So to satisfy my own needs, I would simply edit the Meta data...You'd be surprised at how effective XBMC is at doing this
QuoteBut if someone can help barrydocks out, and flesh the id3 attribute tracking system out, great. I'm not much of an audiophile, I guess. It wouldn't occur to me to make the effort.I would be more than happy to do the leg work, it's just that I am not a coder and I have never really used LinuxMCE before, I am still struggling with the install
