i got it working.
had to change some entries in xorg.conf and prevent the avwizard chaning my xorg.
its awesome. ui with everything.

i got something working.
if i change  "nvidia" to "nv" in source.list i get a picture and avwizard starts up.
after starting ui2 there is the message  that the trancparency manager faild to load or if i choose ui2 without overlay i get the message that my machine could not load opengl.
does somebody know what to do?

i got the latest snapshot and burned it on a dvd.
after changing the sources.list the installation went through.after  a reboot of my machine i could see the kubuntu logo. next the screen went black. the display is connected to the vga port and everything unimportant is removed. do u have any ideas?

yes i have 2 nic's in my machine.
just got 7.10 working but only with vesa and the onboard graphic. only statics images are working no ui2.
maby thats because the gma4500 was produced in 2008 and there is no driver in 7.10.?

i'm new in that forum. 
i've tried to install linuxmce on a thinkcentre m58p without any results.
there is a intel gma 4500 graphic controller onboard. (vga and display port)
first i start the 7.10 64bit dvd installation. the installation went through, system restarts and i get a blues screen with the text "failed to start x"
next i tested the 32bit version. same outcome ... :-(
ok installed kubuntu 8.10 and doing a internet installation. the system restarts again and again.nothing happens  ...
i bought a nvidia geforce 8400 gs (manufactor: gigabyte, vga and dvi output)
first i start the 7.10 64bit dvd installation. after pressing install linuxmce 7.10 my screen went black. can not go on installing.
the 32bit linuxmce installation process works. after the first reboot my screen is empty again.
i do not know what to do anymore , thaks for your help
