I'm looking for a decent media director and a (non-LMCE) friend recommended a Dell Zino. Can anyone either comment on the Zino or recommend a currently available box? (UK or European availability preferably)

Yes, I had done that, and it seems to require me to view the files one page at a time to add pictures. If there are 500 files in that folder that is going to take a lot of pages and clicking to add all of them. Is there a way to just select all in the folder rather than selecting a page at a time? Or to increase the number displayed per page?

Is there a way to just add all the files in a folder to the screensaver? When I do Files & Media->Screensaver and click on the folder I want, I see about 30 or so per page and 10 pages (or more) of images. It is a bit tedious to select all, save, scroll down, go to next page, repeat...

Can anyone recommend a USB UIRT supplier in the UK? Or elsewhere in Europe?  The only source I can find is on ebay:

Does anyone know if any skin looks particularly better on the iPhone 3? (lower resolution than iPhone 4, text of video names just barely readable)

It's great to finally see this app, please add my kudos to the list!

However, it doesn't seem to be quite working for me. My iPhone (3GS running iOS 4.1) works fine with the web orbiter in Safari (that is, the buttons seem to do what they are supposed to but it is slow and clunky). But the RoamingOrb app (version 1.0.2) only gets as far as the main orbiter screen and then most of the buttons don't work, the only that seem to work are lighting and floorplan and on these screens no button works so I have to kill the app and re-start it.

I even tried deleting the Web Proxy Orbiter and adding it again, but the RoamingOrb app still behaves as above.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try? My wife can't use any of the other orbiter interfaces I have cobbled together, so this is my best shot for keeping a happy marriage!

I've been scavenging old parts to make a cheap media director: an old laptop and a USB IR receiver and remote from an old DVB card (no model or brand markings on either). The laptop works fine with UI1 but my USB IR receiver and remote seem to behave like a keyboard (USB HID) not an LIRC: the arrow keys on the keypad do the same as cursor keys on the keyboard and when video is playing it makes the video about 1/4 size and puts soft keys on screen to navigate a cursor around to push the on-screen buttons.

I can see that when I push pause on the remote it is the same as typing "t" on the keyboard, fast rewind types "i" and fast forward types "n".  Is is possible to map these keys so the media director receives a fast rewind or fast forward command like a conventional IR remote?

Or is is possible to convince the MD to somehow see this as an LIRC device?

I must admit that I don't like the thought of buying a Windows CE-based device.... but they just seem so much cheaper!

Can someone post the list of currently supported alarm panels in 0810? I can't find anything in the wiki and I can see some names of panels disappear quickly in the top left corner when I plug a serial device into an MD.

The Honeywell Galaxy (and G2) range seems to have built-in or add-on RS-232 and add-on ethernet so in the absence of any other suggestions I was thinking of going with that in the hope of being able to interface it with LMCE in the future...

OK, I think I have a solution but I see a flaw in it I hope someone knows how to fix.
My boot drive on the core where mythbackend is smaller than the second drive I added for user data. If I stop mythbackend, move the contents of /public/data/pvr to my second drive (say /mnt/device/144/pvr) and then put in a symlink from /public/data/pvr to /mnt/device/144/pvr and restart mythbacked then myth should start storing on the second larger drive. But then the process that populates the list of videos on media will find the myth files as well and try to add them to the list of videos, won't it?  Any way around this or another way to move the pvr directory to another drive?

I have the same issue, has anyone figured this one out?

I would like to have my Media Director be able to power on the TV connected to it. The TV (a Toshiba Regza) has an RS-232 control port but I've been unable to find any documentation on what the control codes are for it. Is it going to be worth persevering or should I go the IR route? If RS-232, can someone point me at an example to start from? I have a USB to RS-232 cable connecting the MD to the TV.

If IR, what will I need to add to the MD? I have a generic USB IR receiver but I don't think it transmits as well (not sure how to tell).

Yes, and the name voiptalk appeared in the drop down, I was able to choose it and fill in the boxes, but when I hit submit no phone line appeared in the table of phone lines (I expected to see the details for account, registered, etc. as they appear when I fill in the sipgate form).

I used the built-in sipgate settings and easily set up incoming and outgoing calls and all was well but I didn't want to commit to a fixed monthly amount, I wanted a pay as you go service. None of the currently installed providers seemed to do this (although I didn't go through the list exhaustively).

I found a US-based provder called voipvoip which seemed to work OK for North American calls but they claimed I needed the G729 codec installed to call UK numbers. Next I tried a UK-based SIP provider called voiptalk.org which was cheap and I could direct dial calls from LMCE to all the numbers I wanted, and they only have a GBP 5.00 minimum so there isn't a big commitment and they provide an 0843 incoming number free and split the revenue from it with you.

I found that I could easily test new providers (at least for outgoing calls) by just choosing the sipgate settings on the Phone Lines wizard and filling in the new SIP provider's hostname, account name and password. But now that I found a decent PAYG SIP provider I thought I would follow the instructions to  properly add new SIP providers (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/How_to_properly_add_support_for_SIP_providers).  I used sipgate's entry as a template, duly changed all occurence of sipgate to voiptalk. It all seemed to work fine, the new provider came up in the wizard's list of providers, I filled in the host, username and password (which is what I did using the sipgate hack above) and clicked submit, but the list of phone lines appeared empty. So I've gone back to my hack of choosing sipgate as the provider but filling in voiptalk.org's details which seems to work. Does anyone have an idea why I can't seem to add a new provider?

OK, I now have e-mail being sent when there is a security breach. First I did Email Setup under the Basic Info wizard and used my Gmail.com account (tried my google apps account which is really gmail, but that didn't work). It sent me a test message.

Then I used the example in the tutorial, but chose the Event "Security Breach" and device = "Security Plug In".  I now get 2 e-mails for each of these e-mail events despite there being only one item in the list, still, better than none. I'd like to be able to configure the e-mails more to include more info (like when the alarm is disarmed who the user was). Does anyone know where I can edit this sort of thing from bash?
