Foxi352 has done a great job of implementing the first true IOS Orbiter App. I think that Foxi352 plans to submit it to the App Store soon (he may have already done so in fact). So keep checking back there to see if the RoamingOrb App has appeared.

Hey guys, just letting you know that the RoamingOrb is now showing up on the App Store (I searched for RoamingOrb but I just tested and it shows if you search for LinuxMCE also). Just downloaded it and set it up on my lunch break. It is SUPER quick and works great on my 3GS. Works much quicker than using the WebOrbiter 2.0 in Safari.

Agree with totallymaxed here and congratulate Foxi352 on an outstanding job!

One thing I noticed is that if you do a Quick Reload Router the RoaminOrb doesn't show the reload status and also does not automagically re-connect after the reload, but I believe that's something that could be easily fixed and is only minor anyway (just need to close and re-open).

Thanks sambuca, that worked for me too. My mce_usb2 (Windows MCE Remote) stopped functioning after the upgrade. Ran:

sudo apt-get install pluto-messagetrans

and

sudo apt-get install pluto-irbase

and then rebooted the core/hybrid and all is well again. :)

Hey Bruce,

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. I'm at work right now and don't have my MD on at home, but I'd say this will get you through:

$ sudo ssh moonXX
root@moonXX$ mysql -u root -h 192.168.80.1 -p
-- Just hit ENTER when asked for the password.
mysql> show databases;
mysql> USE pluto_main;
mysql> SELECT * FROM Device;
mysql> exit

As long as you see a table of results when you do the SELECT * that means everything should be ok with the database connection.

As I mentioned, if you can post the error that would help a lot.

Cheers,

Lukas

Hey Bruce,

Did you change the samba config on both the core and the MD?

Maybe post the SQL error that you are getting as that sounds like it might be a separate issue. Can you access mysql on the core from the MD and see the databases?

Cheers,

Lukas

Installation issues / Re: Orbiter failed to generate openGL
« on: August 09, 2010, 04:06:47 am »
I had issues with this myself the other night. I couldn't get any of the widescreen resolutions (ie 1080p, 720p etc) in the AVWizard to actually work on my TV. They all blew out to much larger than the screen and I could only see the top left corner of the screen.

I ended up using 1024 X 768 and it worked fine. I think my TV does some sort of wierd scaling or something when the signal comes in via VGA.

Hi Beeker,

I see from your other thread that you have fixed the OpenGL message. Did you try my (or should I say pw44's) suggestions about fixing the samba issues:

it can be related with the samba update. take a look at /etc/samba/smb.conf and see if the unix extension = no. if it states yes, change to no (core/hybrid AND md), restart samba.

I had the same issues with not being able to access any media from the MD's and the solution above solved the problem.

Hope you get well soon mate. That sounds pretty serious.

And yeah, sex is definitely still ranked on top of LinuxMCE for me too. Although I think it may have spoiled the odd romantic evening from time to time.

After having similar issues myself and chatting to TSCHak and possy on IRC, finally found the answers I needed (well possy found them for me.... genius!).

Take a look at the second reply in this thread from pw44:
http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=9984.0

Note: when you do get it working, the MD may seem to lock up during boot up. This is because it is trying to change permissions on all of your media. You just need to let it run (mine took over an hour). See this thread for more information:
http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=10363.0

I think possy was working on a fix for this issue last night, so if you do another update in a few days it should stop it from happening.

Hope this helps! :)
