Sounds good.  I guess you are referring to the security cameras section on the configuration page and not any motion wrapper settings.  Also, how many camera devices will I setup?  I'm just curious.  Here's the settings for motionwrapper as is:

#image settings
frequency 0
rotate 0
width 640
height 480
framerate 30
auto_brightness off
brightness 128
contrast 128
saturation 128
hue 128

#http control
control_localhost off
control_html_output on
control_port 8888

#filters
despeckle EedDl
lightswitch 50
minimum_motion_frames 5
night_compensate on

#detection
noise_tune on
threshold_tune on
smart_mask_speed 5
gap 5
post_capture 5
pre_capture 3

#output
locate preview
text_double on
webcam_quality 70
webcam_maxrate 30
text_changes on
text_right %d-%m-%Y\n%T

#input
roundrobin_frames 1
roundrobin_skip 2

#movies
ffmpeg_cap_new on
ffmpeg_timelapse 60
ffmpeg_timelapse_mode daily
ffmpeg_video_codec msmpeg4

#snapshot config
snapshot_interval 60
snapshot_filename %Y/%m/%d/%H/%M_%S
jpeg_filename %Y/%m/%d/%H/%M_%S
ffmpeg_filename movies/%d_%m_%Y_%H_%M_%S
timelapse_filename %Y/%m/%d-timelapse

it looks like we need to add some additional device data and code to call a select input script in a device template.

Installation issues / setting up Roundrobin on motionwrapper for cameras
« on: October 03, 2009, 02:07:33 am »
Does anyone know how to setup a roundrobin on a car that has mulitiple inputs but only can view one channel at a time? I found the commands on lavrsen.dk wiki but didn't seem to do what I wanted it to.  I'm not even sure how to direct motionwrapper to the correct video card (/dev/video0 or what?). Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm not finding any information on this and have been battling it for sometime now. Hope someone has run into this and knows an answer.  also, do I need to use command videodevice /dev/video0 or whatever in my settings in the motionwrapper advance setup page?  Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Installation issues / Re: Hauppauge BT878 ImpactVCB problem

Ok. Thank you everyone for your help! I only have one other question. I was able to get my card working under linux mce  I can get one input at a time to work. After plugging it into my windows vista computer I realized that the card has to be switched between the 3 rca inputs on the back. It can't display all three simultaneously.  How do I get the card to do this?  Is there a special command that I give motion wrapper?

Also is there a way to get the computer to allow me to work on it. When x windows starts after the Linuxmce initializer finishes doing its job it closes and leaves a blank solid background.  No shell to control the computer.  I have to go through the internet to do anything to it.  Any help is appreciated in that regard.  Thanks!!

Ok. Thanks for the help. I had found this in the wiki. I actually looked for this board and had a little trouble finding it at a reasonable price. I guess I thought that since mine had the same chipset it would work. Anyways, I appreciate the help. Now, where to go to get this?  Do these all support simultaneous video feeds to record from? I assume so.  I'll look into the 143  Thanks!!

**Actually found the answer. Does anyone know where I can get a PV149 for cheap? :)

Ok. Maybe someone knows what type of card that I will be able to buy that will definitely work in linux mce. One that I can plug and play with.
OK, Just because the BT878 (Brooktree) chipset on your board is the same as what Bulecherry uses, it doesn't mean the board's design will use the same drivers successfully.  The following Bluecherry capture boards are Linux compatible and known to work in LinuxMCE:

From the LinuxMCE Wiki...
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Bluecherry_PV-143
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Bluecherry_PV-149
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Bluecherry_PV-155

I have the PV-143 working just fine!  Hope this helps.

Regards,
Charles

Installation issues / Hauppauge BT878 ImpactVCB problem

K, here's my issue. I'm having trouble with my capture card I just bought off the internet. Bought a 4 channel input card that was supposed to run 4 video inputs at once. I can't get it to run correctly in windows vista or in Linux MCE. Linux MCE I was able to get the first camera up, and the other ones showed a second but froze. I setup motion wrapper and the generic analog camera drivers via the web admin, and did both quick and full restarts on the system.   I could only get one camera up at a time. Am I doing something incorrectly? Please help.  The card is a Hauppauge 64405 Rev B2 and from what I read is supported at the kernel level in linux. I tried creating more than one motion wrapper and only one. Nothing seems to work. If anyone has any insight or where I can find a cheap 4 input video board that works relatively easily in linux let me know please. I'm new to MCE, but know how to install drivers using the sh command. I installed the video drivers this way.  Thanks for any assistance!!

Configuration:
1gb ddr memory
3.0ghz pentium 4 ht
intel chipset
ati xpress 200 video if I recall, set to 64 mb shared memory (seems to work well)
option to add pci express video card.
SATA 1tb drive and ata133 40gb hd
