Users / Problem with VDR on Hybrid and MD
May 05, 2010, 08:38:00 PM
I have LMCE 8.10 Beta installed on Hybrid with one MD. On Hybrid I have installed DVB card SkyStar 2 (worked fine out of box, thanks Mandingo).
When I'm watching TV on MD in the same time on Hybrid I can watch only channels from the same transponder. I know about that.
But, the problem is when TV is off on MD it still locks DVB card and I'm not able to watch all channels on Hybrid, only from one transponder.
When I'm stopping VDR on MD (/etc/init.d/vdr stop) DVB card is unlocked and now I can watch all channels from all transponders on Hybrid without any problems.
But it's very unusable to stop manually VDR on MD when I want to watch TV on Hybrid and start it again when I want to watch TV on MD.
Is it possible to remove starting VDR on MD by default when system starts and start VDR only when I press button "TV" on MD's screen orbiter?
(And also stop VDR when I press button "Off" to stop watching TV)
Maybe it possible to make some correction of code for that buttons? (For example, add strings /etc/init.d/vdr start and stop where necessary)
Or maybe it's possible to change some scenarios from web admin?

Thanks for any help

I have a problem with this card. It works fine with VDR in core/hybrid but MD won't boot until the card is installed in server.

PS. Also I have another Technisat SkyStar 2 TV PCI rev.2.8A but it's not supported by 810.

It seems that you should run that command with specific device:
sudo v4l2-ctl -n -d /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0

v4l2-ctl -n -d /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0

Failed to open /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0: Device or resource busy

:-\

/etc/init.d/vdr stop

v4l2-ctl -n -d /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0

ioctl: VIDIOC_ENUMINPUT

Maybe I'm not understanding you...

Do you want to know if with a tv tuner card in the core and not in a MD, can you watch live tv on a MD?  Yes, and it's all automatic.  As long as you have a tuner on any LinuxMCE box that isn't being used, you can use it for live TV on any MD.

Do you want to know if you can watch 1 channel, using just one tuner, live on multiple MDs at the same time?  That's the question we've been discussing, but maybe not what you are really asking about.
Thanks for your patience  :)

I would like to know, can I watch 1 channel, using just one tuner in the Core (not in a MD), live on multiple MDs at the same time

I think the real question is can you start live TV on one MD and "broadcast" it out to all MDs.  No clue, never had a reason to try something like that.
no, question is about "broadcast" live tv from Core to all MDs (DVB-S tuner installed on the Core)

sorry about my English, its in progress  ::)

I'm going to setup my first LinuxMCE system: Core with one DVB-S card and two MDs
my questions is:
1. Is it possible to watch one satellite tv channel on MD1 and MD2 in the same time?
2. Is it possible to switch channels on MD1 and MythTV automatically switch channels on MD2 in the same time?

if I'll change channel on one MD, can MythTV change channel simultaneously on all MDs?
(DVBS card installed in Core)
