redir is this new hardware?  If you are hanging during the os install that usually indicates a problem in hardware.  I have had this happen to me before using old hardware.  Usually I have a problem with memory.  Running memtest from the dvd before you start your install could rule out the memory as being a problem.

Running the live cd puts your graphics card in vesa mode for compatibility.  If you manage to get the os installed the graphics card will initially be in vesa mode until you try to install the drivers for intel graphics(this may or may not work automatically during the lmce portion of the install).  This is where the fun will begin.  If you manage to get the os installed there is no guarantee you will be able to utilize everything the intel graphics has to offer.  Nvidia is really the best way to go.  Nvidia is the best supported in the linux world.

My suggestion is to buy an inexpensive nvidia graphics card and disable the intel graphics.  Then you will need to figure out what in hardware is preventing the os from installing.  If you find that the memory is fine then there is probably an incompatibility with your hardware and linux.  Do some searches for that mobo to see if anyone else has had issues and if there are any work arounds.  There are a number of 2.6 kernel iterations and just because the manufacturer says it will work on 2.6 or higher does not mean they have tested it on all of them. 

I bought a Hauppauge usb tuner that I got to work with lmce0810.  Based on that I bought two more.  The tuner changed slightly from when I first bought it till when I bought the additional two.  The later rev tuners did not work with the kernel being used in 0810.  I believe the kernel used in 0810 is 2.6.28.  The kernel used in 1004 2.6.32 and the kernel used in 1010 is 2.6.35.  The last two tuners I purchased work with the 2.6.35 kernel and not the earlier two kernels without a lot of monkeying around with the kernel.  I guess what I am saying is just because they say it is so don't mean it is.

it is not the runlevel.  There is a couple of variables that when anded together will cause a true and reboot.  The problem is when the preferred driver is compared to the installed driver in a function in nvidia-install.sh they don't match as they should once the preferred driver installs.  I know this is the case since I changed a variable value in the function and stopped it from rebooting.  I got AVWizard and setup wizard to run and then the orbiter finally came up running.

So a change has to be made in how the name of the preferred driver is returned so that a match is eventually gotten.  I can see the result in the nvidia-install.log file.

Well I guess I was able to submit a ticket once I entered my email address.  At least I got an email message saying that is what happened.  I could not attach a log file though.  I will edit and enter pastebin locations for the files.

I hate dumb a$$ attacks.  Could someone remove tickets 927 through 929.  They are all the same and were my attempts to add an attachment.  Ticket 926 is the one I want to leave.  It has additional info in it that the others don't.

No.  I did not.  I just wrote the description and submitted.  I was unable to find the log file with the error.  I wanted to submit the ticket with the description and then attach the log file later once I found it.

Just tried to submit again.  This time I used an email address rather than my forum user name and was rejected for the same reason.

I use my forum user name.  I have been able to in the past but haven't been able to lately. if it is an ip thing there is nothing I can do about it only and admin could help that.

Hello.  I tried to submit a trac ticket this morning and when I submitted I was given the following error message:

500 Internal Server Error (Submission rejected as potential spam (SpamBayes determined spam probability of 96.38%))

Is the reason that this occurs because I don't have a login for this?

What is the process for registering if that is my problem?

I have no experience with the Seluxit since I am in the US and it appears there are only EU versions of that.  Whether my issue is unique I don't know.  In order to include the tricklestar controller I had to pull the MCV dongle out of my machine and include it by pushing the button.  The controller would not include while connected to the machine and sending an add node command.  Also, while reading the specs on the Aeon/MCV it said that the dongle was an update controller.  While it did not specifically say that it would not work in SUC or SIS, the specs did not say that it could either.  Once I received the Tricklestar it specifically said it would work in SUC and when used with the Tricklestar controller it would work in SIS.  You just had to make sure that the controller was the second device in the network. 

In any case, I did include the Tricklestar controller with the MCV dongle (with the usual remove the dongle, putting it in include mode, and including the Tricklestar controller with it) but could not include any devices with the controller.  It has been a couple of weeks since I have tried but I believe I could include a device with the controller but whatever should have happened between the Tricklestar controller and the MCV dongle did not occur.  lmce never saw the newly included device.

I tried including the tricklestar 200ZW with my mcv dongle but it was not completely successful.  I could get it to include but it did not seem to be fully configured.  I could see an extra controller in the advanced tree in the admin web site but I could not include anything with it.

I thought that the reason the Aeon Labs dongle  was a bad choice is its lack of ability to work in SIS mode?  So what are you combining the Minimote with?

Get the Seluxit.  I got the Tricklestar and was able to add the door sensor with no trouble.  It was surprising how well it worked.  I paired it with the controller.  The core restarted a couple of times and it was done.

Yes.  I was too lazy to make sure of the name when I typed it.  I was hoping that getting close was good enough. 

Mandingo, possy, Tschak are all people you can talk too when testing.

I am sorry but I had expected an on going conversation about the testing in that channel.  Given the nature of comments about not giving help if someone needed it I did not want to intrude unless there was something actually being discussed.  Next time I am on I will make sure my test computer is set up and ready to discuss.

I have been in there a few times, last night was the latest, and have not seen much talk about it.  Given the nature of some of the posts in this thread I was hesitant to ask how it was going.  I was in linuxmce and linuxmce-dev.  So I guess I will risk asking about testing next time I am in.
