Still some kinks that need to be worked out but progress all the same.

So, after I added my device id to the HVR 2250 template, I was getting detection after a reboot.  I was able to configure the video sources to use my schedules direct subsription.  Afterward, when going into TV, I got a message from myth saying that no tv capture cards were configured.  I went into mythtv-setup and verified that this is the case.  Maybe I screwed something up when I was trying to get it to go before.

Thanks TK.  I didn't imagine there would be any difference but had to ask.  I can't think of a way multicast would really be very useful and it really looked like that was the only major feature.

Is there any advantage to be gained within LMCE from using the more expensive version of the HD Homerun?

Just got back from holidays for the last couple of weeks.

I managed to have a look at it before I went. Made some basic progress - in that I could port over the existing JavaMO code to run on android. I am using Socket connections rather than Bluetooth. Will get it working with that first I think.
Was in the process of setting up a test harness to send/receive BD commands to/from the phone. Will try that further this week or weekend.

Any progress Darren?  I was thinking about doing this myself when I noticed all of the chatter on the forum about it.  No sense in wasting someone's effort.

I'd like to help you guys support the Hauppauge HVR-2250.  I've never created a template so most of it is confusing.  I've looked at templates for other cards and I might be able to do some copy/paste creation but I need a resource that can help me with the details of creating a new template.  If there is some very detailed documentation that I am missing, please point me to it.  Otherwise, help me out and I'll create the detailed documentation

Instead of a small fan you might want to consider a big one and have it run slowly, that will be more quiet.

You're right.  It all depends on the layout and what's actually necessary.  We'll see ). 

I'm certainly not saying it will need a fan... if you go for the fanless model. But what it will need is ventilation slots to allow for convective cooling.

Agreed.  I could see it being possible that it would need a small fan.  I don't think it would though.  All the same, dremel to the rescue 

Hmmm...even though the Zotac 230 is fanless and passively cooled...it does still need ventilation. Locking it inside that steel case will secure it for sure but will also fry it pretty quickly!!! Lol! The integral passively cooled heatsink needs to be convection cooled and therefore should be used in a ventilated case design.

The only idea was to give it a place to live.  I have no issue with cutting vent/fan holes into the box.  It was already on my mind.  I'll have to decide exactly how I want to ventilate it when I have the board and can verify that it can in fact live in the tiny cash box.  I really can't imagine it needing much more than a small fan though.  I'm not even sure said fan would need to be moving at full power. 

I wish I had real info to report..... stupid pre-order.

The real issue to me is that ITX cases are either not suited to diskless MDs or are overpriced or both.  I'm willing to have an adventure to save that money.  If you have better suggestions, speak

On the same front, since the topic is already up, does anyone have any suggestion on a place to buy USB to RS232 converters in the US?  Any suggestions on what to avoid if anything?

I come forward to admit that I have been defeated by the quantity of unknowns.  I'm going to try copying all of the info in another template, replacing what I know needs to be different, but I'm not expecting much.

I had tried off an on to get someone to give me all of that info for a while now.  I have an HVR-2250.  I'm willing to do the leg-work.  I WANT to contribute.  I need people to point me at the right docs or give blatant instructions.  So someone help me show everyone some love

I'll have a look at your instructions in detail colin.  Hopefully, I won't get tripped up by anything.

To Newbi:  I'd bet you could get people to do the work for you with free hardware or cash donations.  There's only so much others can do or are willing to do for free.  Remember, OSS is about scratching your own itch.  You have to convince people they itch somewhere

I wish I could find a retailer in the US.  Acer isn't a very hot brand over here.  They haven't released the Revo here yet.  Even the UK price is a steal.  You guys usually get screwed on items like that.

I've got one of the Zotac IONITX boards on preorder but the revo doesn't cost a lot more for a complete box.

Thanks again.  Out of curiosity, have you tested out Hulu or other higher res flash streams with it?  Flash video is a dog on my 780G system.
