Found an harddrive during covid Qurantine days from a closet. Plugged in and booted, good enough to give me goose bumps, it loaded Lmce with Orbiter on the screen!

Need to know, Are we still alive?

Update. my speaker-test -c 2 -r 48000 -D hw:0,9 is positive. I get  sound out of -D hw:0,9.
I believe its just a matter of tweaking asound.conf to get the sound out. as my asound.conf has hw:0,7 in it. I tried to edit /etc/asound.conf but rebooting the system it goes back to hw:0,7 instead of hw:0,9.

please help.

My system was sluggish because, my media drive i think is crashing.
I removed that drive and system boots up fine with UI present, but NO sound.
I am giving up.

may be my log can speak.

Xorg.0.log = http://paste.ubuntu.com/23604734/

Code: [Select]
/var/log$ grep "X Driver" /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[    59.824] (II) NVIDIA dlloader X Driver  367.57  Mon Oct  3 19:35:24 PDT 2016

/etc/asound.conf = http://paste.ubuntu.com/23604761/
/etc/pluto.conf =   http://paste.ubuntu.com/23604764/
/etc/X11/xorg.conf = http://paste.ubuntu.com/23604770/ ( display is working but no sound.)

here is what my nvidia-install.sh look like. http://paste.ubuntu.com/23604777/
what I dont understand,, that being on 14.04 thrusty,, how come system has 367 driver? should not it be using 352? I am little lost. I could never kill server X on lmce. so I could not manually install the driver.

nvidia-installer log = http://paste.ubuntu.com/23604779/

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi Phenigma,

Thank you for your answer. I shall start looking for new card however its hard to justify for the budget while RPi like devices are so cheap! anyways,, I have no choice i guess due to this bond towards lmce.

In mean time,  If someone can please answer few question to make this card working for time being.  I think I have two ways to install driver manually.

1. May be I can edit nvidia-install.sh and put 340 instead of 352 driver and re run the AV wizard.

2. install Nvidia driver manually as steps given on their website. but following this method. I am not sure how can I prevent lmce from automatic changes?
I also, dont know how to kill xserver on lmce.( I know very stupid question)

Am I heading to right direction? or totally off track.

Thanks for advise.

Hey guys,

Thank you for reply. I scan through those config files and compared with your reference post for xine.conf too. Those files looks okay to me up to my best knowledge.  I shall post the output of those files later this week.

However , I have a feeling that the problem is bigger than that. My system is exceptionally suggish/slow since that AVWizard run. I have lost my media drive which was mounted under /home/public/data/(device#35) etc. I can not access any of my pictures, movies or songs. Seems like some permission issue.

So what exactly going on? here is my guess.

I remember, reading on some other forum ,  that My graphic card Nvidia GT-430 does not work properly with some drivers. And I believe lmce 14.04 , Since our kernel runs little behind , does not install latest nvidia driver.

I am assuming that after AVWizard, nvidia-install.sh runs, and it must have installed driver that does not properly run my Graphic card which is why I am seeing all these issues!!

Does my hypothesis make any sense? Let me know. currently my system has Nvidia 352 driver installed,( I am guessing from what I saw last night. )

dpkg -l | grep nvidia

Hey guys,

typical holiday season, once again, when I plan to enjoy the most and it broke for me.

So here is the history.
I had a perfectly working system with Nvidia GT430 graphic card and Asus Xonar D2 soundcard. I had video coming out from HDMI and Audio coming out from Optical out from the soundcard.

Now I bought a A-V receiver (Marantz) and though I would just get audio and Video from HDMI only. (previously I had logitech speaker system that would only accept coax or optical output therefore I could not use hdmi audio before)

So, I went to Advanced (from orbiter) - and ran the "AVWizard" ----- system booted --------- (it took couple of boots) and I was presented with AVwizard, Yey, I selected hdmi, resolution(1080p) , soundcard as Nvidia HDMI and successfully finish AVWizard. System regenerated orbiter screen but never made it to UI on screen. (yes I did follow rule #1)

What is working?
I have an access to webadmin from internal netwrok.
I can ssh into the core from internally.

Can anyone help me to get what I want, Or am I looking at reinstall?

Please reply.

Thank you. Teju. :o

I reset my firewall settings, through webadmin, and Changed using "Static IP" to "USE DHCP"

First Few boots It did nothing and booted without network configuration.
However after two days,, It booted just fine. and everything is working as it supposed to..The system now using DHCP instead of Static IP.

I have no idea what went wrong with static IP !!

Now its working, so can't complain.

Thanks.

Hello everyone, Happy Thanks Giving...!!

I apologize for very late reply. It turns out,, there is no internet on the core at all.

I really don't know how to troubleshoot this.

Thanks.

Hey guys,,,

I am experiencing hiccups to access internet on my internal network.

here is how my setup is...

Comcast ------> LinksysRouter (Primary)-------> LMCE ---------> Netgear router(Secondary)

I only experience slow internet access when I connect to Netgear that is (internal network ) for LMCE.

No problem If i  connect to Linksys.

I am not sure how to troubleshoot.

Let me know

Thanks. Teju.

system had third sound card from Asus Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CMI8788 [Oxygen HD Audio] The sound card never worked. Therefore I decided to re run the AVwizard to get the audio from HDMI from nvidia card. and that was the end of my system.

I never got passthrough the STEP 1 of the AVwizard.

here are some logs I am attaching hope that helps.

log of avwizard_setup_av  http://paste.ubuntu.com/17827252/

I am still playing with this,,HOping to get it back to life. while the snapshot is being downloaded.

Thanks. Teju

« on: June 03, 2016, 03:54:22 am »
I am going to upgrade my core hardwares. I am going to built on a microatx motherboard and probably choose intel i3 or i5 processor.
I know that nvidia is preferred way to for lmce.

So here is my question. Based on the fact that these modern processor with integrated graphic support, would it work with LMCE?

That way I would get hdmi video and audio out of my motherboard itself. Only have to throw in an extra  PCI ethernet card and fly off.

I hope my question make sense. Please advise.

HI posde,

Thanks for your reply. I came across an interesting thread where people are using many methods to communicate to the GE panel. Following are the approach.
GE panel ----->  Superbus 2000 RS232 Module  ---------> arduino --------> and codes

Some are

GE panel -----> superbus 2000 RS232 module -------> RS485 ethernet converter --------> and codes

Finally someone

GE panel -----> superbus 2000 RS232 module ------> USB to serial adapter --- Raspberry pi -------> and codes

I have to admit, when it comes to programming language,, I am lost. I have no idea what they are talking about.
here is the thread I came across
https://community.smartthings.com/t/any-concord-4-alarm-panel-users-out-there/4429/48

I think, going through RS232 to ethernet converter is the best route to go for LMCE integration.

I will purchase the module and converter, once everything hooks up, Please guide me to get the software part work.

Hello guys,

Let me just start with, I do not even know how to explain my case. I would try my best.
I have security system installed in the house I recently purchase and I finally powered it up. the system works. I was wondering that if I can have it work with LMCE however I find there is no way to connect the system to the computer !! there is only one cable comes out from the panel looks like suppose to go to phone line to dial out. I do not think the LMCE would detect the panel through that cable.

Lead me into more search. I found out that there is a module that I can buy which would allow me to attach RS232. The module is known as
"Interlogix 60-783-02 SuperBus 2000 Automation Module with RS232". The installation instruction of the module says RS232 is configured as DCE device. I am attaching a screen shot here. Which I think LMCE should be able to talk with.

Second thing is,,, the whole purpose of security system is when something happens,, It should inform the authority. however. I am at the moment not going to buy any service. AS of now, I know that my phone system is not supported with LMCE. I use ooma voip as phone line. I have never used phone feature of the LMCE before. however I found a post where someone has Ooma system working with asterisk using linksys SPA-3102. Again, thats another topic.

that means my goal is to self monitoring the home using LMCE. For example on an event.. I want LMCE to take a pic or video or send and email to me whenever any is a sensor triggers when its armed. Anyways,, that is a long way to go.

here is the installation manuals for system and the module.

System : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4wop5wRNSQJSTNSek9UNE1xQ1E
module: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4wop5wRNSQJZmVZQ0haV0ZnOW8

So why am I posting these manuals? I do not know. Trying to provide as much info as I can.
somewhere on the manual I found that it is possible to get device BUS ID for each sensors and devices on the system. That could be helpful, Correct?
Do you guys think I am heading to right direction?
Is it possible to achieve what I want to achieve?

As I said before,, My post is all over the place. Any word from GODs would be appreciated.

Thank you very much.
