Installation issues / Custom Partition with DVD Install

I have a slightly older system that has trouble addressing large volumes. This shows up when /boot is on such a volume, causing GRUB to freak out. To deal with this in past projects, I've just made a ~100MB /boot partition and gone on with my day, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that with the 710 RC2 DVD, since everything is so automated. Any suggestions?
