Hi blakesle,

Have you tried to copy the MCE CD disks 1 and 2 plus the Kubuntu CD .iso files to your hard drive?

If not try that and then run the installer and point the browser to that disk location.

Hope this helps.

I will give it a try tonight.

OK, It is amazing how a properly burned DVD changes everything. I tried to copy the CD's to the hard disk but they would not copy. They both errored part way through. I then downloaded the DVD iso and burned it at .5X. That seems to have done the trick. It loaded like a dream. It was a very clean load. Thanks.

I retried to install from my NTFS harddrive again, and it worked. So not really sure what the problem was :)

I continue to have the same problem that you report "failed to cache LinuxMCE Disk 1". Can anyone give more insights as to what this problem is and how to get around it? I have burned the 2 ISO files to CD's and I iinstall the install package on the Kubuntu 7.10 desktop. The system goes through about 15 minutes of caching the files to the disk and then consistantly gives me the "failed to cache" error reported above.

I have a:

500 GB SATA drive
PNY GeForce 4 w/512MB
2 NICs

Trying to set up a combined system on a single server.

Help!
