Users / Is there an Advanced ZWave Programming tutorial
« on: October 01, 2017, 07:29:23 pm »
Simple timed and responding to events (sunrise / sunset) to turn lights on and off are easy to program within the webadmin.

What I am looking to do is to create a scenario or event that will
- turn on my porch light IF
-- time > sunset OR time < sunrise
AND
-- My phone OR my wife's phone has been gone for 30+ minutes (currently discovered via bluetooth)

It seems to me that I saw this exact scenario programming some time ago before I had integrated zwave into my installation, but my google-fu is lacking.

If there is a programming guide, or an example to follow someone can point me at, it would be appreciated!

Installation issues / Re: Screensaver issues
« on: January 23, 2017, 04:09:25 am »
Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.

The installed video card is an
NVIDIA Corporation C61 [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430] (rev a2)

The nvidia-352 driver was installed by default.

Once I loaded the nvidia-304 (correct for this generation of older hardware) driver and rebooted, the photo screen saver started working.

Issue resolved.

Looking in /var/log/pluto/56_LaunchPhoto_Screen_Saver.sh.log I found

Cannot init the video mode! (Couldn't find matching GLX visual)

followed by multiple entries similar to below

Failed to load '/home/public/data/pictures/flickr/2017/01/01/31917161801.jpg'

Check the file to make sure it exists from the director

ll /home/public/data/pictures/flickr/2017/01/01/31917161801.jpg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 175768 Jan  1 20:22 /home/public/data/pictures/flickr/2017/01/01/31917161801.jpg

Looking at my other media directors I do not have a LaunchPhoto_Screen_Saver log

Checking the installed video (from lspci)

Installation issues / Screensaver issues
« on: January 01, 2017, 11:36:50 pm »
This happened to me with 12.04, and the behavior is consistent with 14.04.

Build a fresh core using LMCE-1404-20161119175532-i386.iso.  Log in via ssh and update everything.  When the orbiter times out, I am shown pictures as you would expect.

Create disk less image successfully.

My first orbiter created from the image displays a clock for a screen saver.  Three subsequent media directors added to the system display pictures not a clock.

Looking in the web-admin under files & media / screensaver the path is listed as /home/public/data/pictures/flickr/ and the flikr script is active.  (It would have to be for the server and two other orbiters)  Under advanced / configuration / devices and looking in the tree under Generic PC as MD / Onscreen Orbiter / Photo screen saver the configuration is identical among the four listed orbiters.

All of these computers are using the U1 basic interface.

Thoughts, suggestions for troubleshooting?

Based on the IGN, it looks like it is not seeing any changes in the repos.  My sources.list as set by the installer:

I don't want to go back to 10.04.  I could burn it down and try again.

I don't see any packages listed for LMCE

Tried running the Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh afterwards and still received the same error

I am surprised that the packages are not cached at /var/cache/apt/archives.  Looking after this latest update, the only packages that are cached are what was downloaded today.

Not being a bash programmer, could the packages be sourced from the local cache, if available, instead of being downloaded from the internet?

Thanks.  As I was thinking about it, I never looked to see if the files were in the download cache.

While it might not mean much, I would like to thank you and everyone else who has worked on and contributed to this project!

Downloaded the absolute latest image for the 12.04 image from http://linuxmce.iptp.org/snapshots/LMCE-1204-20161120232732-i386.iso and successfully installed.

ssh into the machine and apt-get update && apt-get upgrade to pull the latest packages

Users / Unrecognized file extension .m4v
« on: March 19, 2014, 06:01:36 am »
To kind of piggy back off of the Video File Format thread, I took my entire collection of LinuxMCE 8.10 ripped .dvd's (600+ movies and videos weighing in at 6.5Tb) and ran them through handbrake giving me a SUBSTANTIAL space savings (600+ movies and videos weighing in at 650Gb).

I replaced my LMCE 8.10 server with a shiny new LMCE 10.04 server and built the rest of the network behind it.  I then copied my handbraked .m4v files to the appropriate /home/public/data/videos/$DriveID folder and waited.  Nothing ever populated on any of my orbiters.

If I go into the web admin / files and multimedia / media files sync, browse down the folder structure, I can see all of the files .m4v waiting to be added to the database.  If I manually add one with TMDB attributes, it does show up in the orbiter for all to play, but the corresponding .id3 file is not created.

I renamed one of the handbraked .m4v to .mp4 (because they are essentially the same container) on the core and BAM, it showed up in the web admin as added, and it was displayed generically on the first orbiter I checked.  Adding the TMDB attributes creates the corresponding .id3 file.

Renaming the files on the core from .m4v to .mp4 is an easy fix.

Hope this helps someone.

Joseph

Users / Re: Want to find a Core Server? What do you think of this?
« on: March 09, 2012, 09:29:30 am »
The base processor and memory are comparable to what I am currently running on my core.  To set it up as a core, you would need a second NIC at a minimum and quite probably a base line nVidia graphics card..  I haven't tried to build a core with a video card other than an nVidia so I don't know how far through the setup you would get.

So, depending on the expansion capabilities of the box (I tried a Dell chat but was disconnected), and what your resulting installation is suppose to look like, it might be a good starter core.

Sorry to resurrect such an old topic, but I recently updated three media directors from Firefox 7.0 to 10.0.2 and installed new on an additional media director.

There was an error with the extraction command.  It should read
# tar -jxvf firefox-10.0.2.tar.bz2 -C ./87/usr/lib
-- NOTE: ./xx/ is your media director number as seen from the Core at /usr/pluto/diskless

On the three existing media directors, I did not have to break and recreate the symlink ../xx/usr/bin/firefox -> ../lib/firefox/firefox.  It magically found and used the updated software.

On the new media director I did have to break and recreate the symlink using the same commands from above.

Standard disclaimers are still in effect.
