Hi!

My pci card wasn't detect either by LinuxMCE's install wizard. The only way to make it work is with mythtv, here is properly detected and works.

You could check if linux loaded any modules for you card.

Try this to find out if the card is being detected:

dmesg

Try this to look for modules loaded

sudo lsmod

I also think that web content is a great feature for LinuxMCE. Not only with Xine playing streaming but also grabbing all those video and audio casts in rss feeds. (think internet shows like cranky geeks, diggnation, national geographic/discovery bits, etc...).

Maybe that could mean:

- Storage of video / audio files like "episodes" and recorded streams. Core and/or MD ?
- Grab listings from suppliers (shoutcast, rss feeds, etc...).
- Favorites? Profiles?

Hi!

I usually watch video/podcasts and streaming audio/video. For video/podcasts I use Miro (www.getmiro.com) and for streaming I use shoutcast.

Is it possible to integrate both funcionalities (I don't know if it's possible to wrap these two software in LinuxMCE's UI)?


Talking about content, how does LinuxMCE distinguish an ogg audio file from an ogg video file? I tried to open some video ogg files and LinuxMCE plays them as audio, no picture.

Hi!

I don't know if you are trying to use an analog phone with asterix or connecting a POTS line to asterix but I have been trying to get some time to test an item from x100p with linuxmce. I own an AT530SIP phone from x100p.eu, although I haven't test it, it should work if I add a sip/soft phone device in LinuxMCE web admin.

I have also been thinking about getting an sip gateway/adapter to connect an old analog phone with asterix, the AG110 also from x100p.eu . It should work the same way as the AT530 phone.

Do you own any of this devices? Do they work for you?

I also own a pci tvtuner (asus p7131 analog) and it wasn't detected by linuxmce a/v wizard, but when I went to mythsetup, it was recognized by myth and I was able to setup it up properly, live tv, recordings,etc.... I just can't make the ir remote work with mythtv or linuxmce. This situation is the same in 0704 and 0710 beta3. I can't talk about dvb and/or vdr support because my tuner is analog only.

You can also try to use tvtime to test your pci tuner. If it works with tvtime, maybe it could work with mythtv and/or vdr.

All this time, tvtime only had sound with the cdaudio cable connected to the mobo's sound card and mono sound.

After googling it, i found i could use sox to redirect dsp1 to dsp, this works for me:

linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ sudo sox -c 2 -s -w -r 32000 -t ossdsp /dev/dsp1 -t ossdsp -w -r 32000 /dev/dsp

and then start tvtime with:

linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ sudo tvtime --mixer=/dev/mixer:pcm

There you go, stereo sound through pci.

Teletext doesn't seem to work on tvtime and mythtv, I don't know the impact of this card being detected as model P7135 instead of P7131 regarding teletex and the ir sensor/remote.

Good news!

I did a fresh config of mythtv (deleted all previous devices, etc) and realized I had forgotten to select /dev/dsp1 for the tuner's sound. Now I have sound, stereo sound. I don't need that cdaudio cable anymore, the audio comes through pci.

XMLTV for my cable supplier is working too. I'm stunned I got this far.

Nothing new on the ir remote, still not working. I read somewhere I could try to run xev to map ir codes to xmodmap, but xev doesn't detect any key press from remote.

I'll keep you posted, maybe a wiki page about this experience should follow.

I installed 0710beta3 on the following hardware:

asus p4b533
p4 2.0ghz
512 ram
asus mycinema p7131 Analog (not dual/hybrid/dvb), FM radio, S-Video/Composite Video-in and ir remote (through tiny jack on the pci).

This analog tvtuner loads the following modules:

Tvtime works with this card, i can tune and watch channels. At first I didn't have any sound, although alsa "sees" two sound cards, and all volumes are up using alsamixer. I found that this card has an audio-ouput socket, so i used a cdaudio cable and connected it to my motherboard's sound card and i get sound, mono sound. Maybe this is something to do with the cable or mobo's socket i used. I will try connecting to cdaudio input of the mobo and maybe try to use saa7134_oss since lmce seems to be using it.

Mythtv works too, no egd or xmltv yet, i just wanted to see if i could tune channels, sometimes mythbackend dies, a quick reload does the job.

Now the real deal... I'm stuck at creating a template in linuxmce for this device. I guess this template would include tuner, tuner's audio, composite/s-video input, fm radio and ir remote. I usually don't code, except for some bash scripts and I have only been using lmce for 4 days, I'm still kind of lost.
