There are multiple threads in this forum that ask the same type of questions without offering anything. I went through a lot of the stuff on the wiki and what i can still find is even available doesnt seem to have been tested.

Hello all,

I am pretty novice with Linux MCE. I have been doing a lot of reading but cant seem to find the answers i am looking for. I am currently considering these parts:

nMEDIAPC HTPC 200BA Black Aluminum/Plastic/Steel MicroATX Media Center / HTPC Desktop Computer Case - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811204004

MSI K9NBPM2-FID AM2 NVIDIA Quadro NVS 210S Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813130065

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor Model ADA4600CUBOX - Retail
2 X Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
LG Electronics Black LG Super Multi 18x SATA DVD Burner GSA-H62NK, 10x DVD+/-R DL, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD+RW, 12x DVD-RAM - OEM
2 X CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

The system is being built mainly as a large audio server but also eventually to backup DVDs and video. I am not going to be running any TV signal to the MCE. My main purpose of this thread is to make sure these parts will work. Like i said i am new to Linux and I am very weary of purchasing parts if they wont work (obviously). If anyone would be kind enough to just let me know if I am headed in the right direction it would be a great help.

Also, I am looking for a very decent audio card to add to this. I have done a lot of searching on this but i am still unsure of what cards are compatible. I  would like optical and this will be going into a 7.1 surround sound system. If anyone can recommend a compatible motherboard with optical that would be even better. I did notice there are limited options with micro ATX so again, definitely looking for recommendations.

Thanks in advance,
Mike
