>ddamron-You want KDE to start up with lmce, and vnc into kde, right?
Yes, I found that I can do this using the RFB protocol via "KDE Desktop Sharing" which is compatible with all regular VNC / RFB clients.  The only problem with this, is it requires me to select the "KDE Destkop" from within the LINUXMCE menu-ing, disrupting folks watching MythTV.  As well, I have to setup a "personal invitation" to launch a session.  And this takes the "LocalHost:0" console.

If the KDE Desktop Sharing works, there should be a way I can launch a remote VNC session on a separate display:# which allows me to free up MythTV, no?

When I remove the S99kdm from /etc/init.d and use the original kdm.saved which runs the kdm daemon, I can launch vncviewer sessions without getting the Grey Screen problem.  In other words, if I setup the LINUXMCE system in "PC Only" mode the VNC client/server configuration works fine.  What must I do to have the LINUXMCE system start with Launch Manager at boot in Core-Hybrid mode and successfully launch VNC sessions.  I'm trying to follow the steps described at this site to have kdm listening at port 177 for VNC requests  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=259448 but I only get a grey screen.

My family would  like the  LINUXMCE system to startup with its nice interface, and I want to work on the server in the background.

Thanks,
Dan ???
