What do you think of this mini-ITX motherboard: Intel D945GCLF2?

It seems like a great option for a SD MD...

I found it on the Canadian site though... http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856167020
Any thoughts for a cheaper MD?

By budget's really kind of tight. Aren't there any cheaper solution? If you add tuner cards to the pack, taxes, shipping, etc. for three TVs... it's about 2000$. The MSI Wind PC seems like a good option, do any of you have suggestions for the connexion with the SD TVs? Furthermore, is an old 700mhz HP computer enough for a core, considering that I'll probably be recording or watching at least four feeds at the same time?

Thanks,
Philippe

Good day,

What would be the cheapest media director to read various video formats (mpeg2, mpeg4, etc.) with simple TV-OUT (7 pin s-video?) capabilities and probably UI2 capabilities for an SD television? I can also build a box myself if it comes cheaper...

Thank you very much,
Philippe

I'm also looking at the MSI Wind PC. Do you know if it has TV-out capabilities through the VGA port (with a simple VGA to s-video cable)?

Thanks,
Philippe

I know that this thread hasn't been alive for some time already but I just wanted to be sure if tkmedia was talking about UI2 with alpha blending or without in his last answer.

I may buy one HDHomeRun but I'm not even sure that we have ATSC over the air digital content here, in Montreal. I might get some signal from the US though... Could anyone who lives in Montreal or close to confirm?

I'm building myself a new LinuxMCE system and I just wanted to be sure that all of my computer parts choices would be compatible with it. I also want to be sure that I'll be able to run UI2 with alpha blending or masking smoothly... Furthermore, I want to be able to watch live TV.

I'll buy this kit three times (but the HDD) and one will serve as a hybrid. Does anybody have a similar configuration? I heard that this motherboard has BIOS problems, did anyone have any problems installing a CPU similar to mine on it?

Thanks a lot,

Users / VIA EPIA EX
March 02, 2008, 06:01:02 AM
Do you think that a system based on a VIA EPIA EX with a 1.5ghz processor and a hardware based encoding tv card (pvr-150 for example) would be capable of simultaneous recording, playback and/or streaming plus UI2 (with masking I guess)?

Thanks

Compatible Products & Services / USB tv tuner
January 02, 2008, 11:38:40 PM
I made a quick search on the forum and the wiki and it seems like there is no info about generic usb tv tuners example: http://cgi.ebay.ca/USB-2-0-TV-Tuner-Video-MPEG-Capture-Box-with-Remote_W0QQitemZ230208564050QQihZ013QQcategoryZ3761QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem.

Does someone knows if it works? It'd be nice to create a wiki page...

Thanks,
