I found a way to diable the firewall by going into the Orbitor advanced view then clicking on the KDE desktop button on the right.
Then I was able to launch the admin website locally on the VMWare guest using the Linux MCE Launch Manager. I logged in then disabled the firewall under network settings and statically assigned an IP on the same subnet as my VMWare host to the external interface.
I then had to shutdown LMCE and change my VMWare eth0 interface to use bridged-mode. Once I started up LMCE again then I could login from my host machines browser using the static IP assigned to the external interface.
