ah, ok  it looks and sounds like a cool product. *diggin further*

it has a hard drive in it and uses http, ftp and bit torrent. you use a webadmin to set it up and load torrents and stuff.

I just did a calculation, and besides the hardware I have I probably have to spend 400+ euros at least to get a nice quiet system, and then still don't have a pretty case ;-)
I find off the shelf Windows MCE's too expensive and frankly don't like Windows at all 

So started to browse around and getting close to what I'm looking for.

The Asus WL-700gE wireless router is able to run lighttpd, php and mysql, a bit slow though, bit still interesting.
You can also "Download to the installed hard drive while your PC is off", dunno how, but it's possible :-)

For the DVD-player, Divx player, cable TV recording section something like a Kiss DP-558 seems a good addition.
Buying them second handed is an option, a Kiss DP-558 is around 200 euros that way.
An Asus WL-700 I could not find, but the WL-500 goes for 50 euros.

Tvix has nice products too. So... Trying to find an overview of these harddisc based multimedia devices or at least the brands...

I was wondering... Is it possible to add by myself:
- FTP server
- HTTP server/PHP/MySQL
- torrent client (webbased like MLdonkey)

I was told "Sure, not problemo !" by many people, but I haven't seen any people who have this working.
So since I'm not a big Linux expert, I'd like to see this working before buying equipment and start building 
Anybody did this? Was easy? Hard? Impossible? Just boot to the shell and install ?
Cause if this will not work, I'm probably going for a different solution.
