Users / Network Issues
« on: November 10, 2007, 05:49:19 am »
I am setting up a linuxmce system involving the following: core/hybrid, two thin clients, PDA orbiter, and wii remote.  I already have the core pretty well configured, operating the lamps through x10 stuff. The wii remote works as well.  The problem is that I'm not sure how to set up my network.

The core has two network cards, one that pulls an IP via DHCP, and the other is set at 192.168.80.1, and gives out ip addresses.  I want to set up the two thin clients  as diskless. I also want to make the pda orbiter over a wireless network.  Right now, I have the internet come straight into the server, then the other network card is connected to a switch which has an access point attached to one of the ports on said switch.

I added the thin clients in the admin site and ran the setup thing.  I used generic pc as md for the templates, and then I set up the mac addresses.  After running the setup thing, I reloaded the dcrouter and tried to boot the thin clients.  They both get the correct ip addresses.  One of them started loading a bunch of files, and then stopped at that one .sh file that everyone else has mentioned. Now all it does is start to open files, and then says(insert correct thing here after I look it up again), and then stops. The other one just says the image isn't valid.

Is this because of the way I have the network setup? Would I be better off having the internet come into a wireless router, turning off the dhcp, and hooking up the server and two clients to the lan ports? If it would work that way, it would be nice, as doing so would probably solve the problem with the PDA.

I know this is a lot to process, but I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Installation issues / Nvidia drivers won't download
« on: October 04, 2007, 06:37:51 pm »
I am using the Nvidia geforce fx5200, and need to download the driver.  I am trying to get it from the console, using the following:

wget http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree/Linux-x86/100.14.11/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkgl.run.  I have also used it with both version numbers as .11 and both as .19. I get a 404 not found error regardless.  Can anyone post the exact link? The wiki only has <version> listed there and I don't know if I'm doing it right.
