Users / Re: TV keeps crashing!
« on: October 15, 2007, 06:26:10 pm »
LMCE Developer Community, I address this reply to forum post to you.

Clearly there are som issues with MythTV (lmce remote interface towards myth tv backend?).
If bugs will not be fixed, ok, fair enough. But, surely there are lots of users that run MythTV successfully. The real question is what should be disabled or removed to successfully run MythTV? Does the problems first occur if you install a IR remote? (iMon, Windows MCE Receiver and so on)

I have been hacking LMCE for 1 month now, so far I have a rather sad simple UI with no 3D due to ATI onboard graphics. I have DVD running but with audio sync issues running Sone1 DVDs, I have multipe instanses of several of my media files in the file list. I just got rid of audio overload, and just got 720p working on onboard HDMI after hacking bios.

I have some friends waiting for my conclusion on my setup so they can order same components and do the same software setup. I am still hopeing LMCE will rock, but as it is now LCDPROC is missing in package source tree of LMCE (?) and the setup wizard within LMCE did not successfully set up audio or tv. I have a iMon RFD and WHEEL on Antec Fusion, not working due to LMCE lircd interface.. I have not found a way to change the lirc0 / lirc1 device setting for each instance of lircd. so I have iMon on lirc0 but a MCE remote receiver on lirc1 and LMCE set to try both devices on same device number.

Lots of issues, but I like the project. Hope to get some conclusion on what to do to make TV functioning.

Keep up the good work and let me know if I should file some bug reports on any

Regards,
Johan

Hi,

I had Windows Mediacenter remote up and running, but all of the sudden it stopped working.
After some research this is the case:

In LMCE admin I have added 2 remotes, even defined a new remote with pasted config in config parameter, which generates the correct remote config in /etc/lircd.conf:

However, LMCE starts lircd with device paramter /dev/lirc0:
"lircd -H default -d /dev/lirc0 /etc/lircd.conf"

I have following lirc modules loaded:
lirc_mod_mce           17540  0
lirc_mceusb2           11908  0
lirc_imon              15236  1
lirc_dev               15988  3 lirc_mod_mce,lirc_mceusb2,lirc_imon
usbcore               134280  7 lirc_mod_mce,lirc_mceusb2,usbhid,lirc_imon,ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd

The thing is, /dev/lirc0 is the Ante Fusion Wheel / iMon Knob, Microsoft MCE Remote IR Reicever is at /dev/lirc1

I have created aliases /dev/lirc_mce and /dev/lirc_imon using udev config, and this works. I have tested starting a second LIRCD manually with device param /dev/lirc_mce and tested using "irw" which then prints the actions defined for MCE remote in lircd.conf correctly. However, while running a second LIRCD this does not make my MCE remote function in LMCE.

How do I make this work? How do I tell LMCE / Pluto LIRC which devices I have and what mappings should be done for each of them. And how do I make sure LMCE receives the LIRC signals from a possibly second LIRCD ?
How do I make LMCE start LIRCD with other device paramteres? It seems to ignore my settings made in
/etc/lirc/hardware.conf:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
LIRCD_ARGS="--device=/dev/lirc_mce"

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
#START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
DRIVER=""
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0 will be
# automatically used instead
DEVICE="/dev/lirc_mce"
MODULES=""

# Default configuration files for your hardware if any
LIRCD_CONF="/etc/lircd.conf"
LIRCMD_CONF=""
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any tips is appreciated. I have found lots of howtos on how to make this work if I run /etc/init.d/lircd daemon, but this does not help for LMCE / Pluto.

Please advice, appreciate it! :)

Found it by searching for "Font"
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Display_Drivers

To ease the paint and suffering of others:
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Display_Drivers#Microscopic_fonts_in_KDE

 Physical display size

Like specifying the refresh rate his is optional but sometimes necessary, most of the time it is either detected or some sane defaults are used but sometimes it isn't, which can result in unreadable font sizes.

Section "Monitor"
  ...
  DisplaySize 155 95
EndSection

Where you have to replace the numbers with the physical width and height of your screen in millimeters (1" = 25mm), however these are for a small touchscreen.

Installation issues / Re: v1.1 b2 fonts too small after installation
« on: September 26, 2007, 01:33:54 pm »

After I set my screen res to 1280x720 X sets font dpi to 20x20, I have tried the suggested sollution in this post but with no luck.

Did you manage to get it working? Any other suggestions?

Thanx

Installation issues / X / KDE Font size incredible small! Unreadable Font
« on: September 26, 2007, 01:30:06 pm »
Hi,

I got my display set to 720p on a Intel i910 Graphics adapter.
My resoluition is now 1280x720 and vide is great.

However, the font size in KDE/X is unreadable, which makes it impossible to start admin web interface and such.
When in MediaCenter buttons/Fonts are OK, but font in the launch manager and so on is unreadable.

Font "PPI" is set to 20x20 for some reason, I need to override this to 96dpi or something.
I have tryed lots of "general X server" sollutions for this override, with no success.

Please advice.

Thanx! :)

Installation issues / MediaCenter Remote Control stopped working
« on: September 26, 2007, 01:26:42 pm »
Hi,

My windows media center remote control stopped working, I had it working out of the box without any config.
I might have messed up something (?) in the web admin interface.

Where are the config files for remote control, how do I verify modules are loaded and check if the config for it are there?

Thanx

Installation issues / SPDIF - Noise - Sound distorted ???
« on: September 26, 2007, 01:23:16 pm »
???

I had Optical Sound output working OK, I have dualboot on the machine.
It's a Abit IL-90MV board with Intel Chipset.

Sound was good, but all of the sudden after a reboot I get distorted sound, sound like a guitar amplifier set at full distortion. I tryed to rerun the Aduio/Video wizard, sound is distorted even in the wizard audio sample.

Please advice, it works fine in Vista and XP at the moment. There must be some issue with the Audio driver and/or some KDE sound daemon? Where are the configs? What should I look for?

Thanx!
