Blue installing hardware boxes constantly popping up in top left corner.
What is with that! Really grinds my gears. Surely it can do that in the background.

I have also been playing around with LinuxMCE for a few weeks now. I have to say that it is way too heavy for what I want to do.

Something like Elisa is what I am after GUI and functionality wise.

Great concept and the power to control anything in your house is pretty damn fine. If I had the money and a little bit more know how when it comes to linux, I would look more into this system.
Keep up the good work.

good god, why the hell are you guys circumventing all this stuff? you guys make it 50,000,000 times harder than you ever should!

Gee thx I will log that one away. ::)

It doesn't hurt to post what has gone wrong. It might actually help someone down the track with a similar problem. :)

My Geforce 2 Ti finally gave in so I got a new graphics card this morning and as a result have re-installed with no problems.

Installation issues / Re: NVIDIA installation failed

I have the exact same problem.
Using a legacy GeForce2 TI

I install Kubuntu and run linuxmce from discs, follow the guide to the key go to install nvidia drivers thorugh wizard and it reboots... bam blank screen after kubuntu loading screen.

I re-installed kubuntu (7.04) and then install the nvidia drivers as I would in ubunutu (7.04) reboot and bam same deal.

I suspect it is becasue Kubunutu hasn't had it's updates downloaded and installed ( as the installer say to install with a fresh Kubunutu). So I am trying to install without the drivers and then will update later and see if it dies after a reboot again.

I will post back with my finding tomoz.

Users / Quick Question on Receivers/Transmitters
September 25, 2007, 02:17:32 AM
Hey all
I am preparing to build a LinuxMCE. Looking at the google vids it looks sweet.

I have a Microsoft MCE remote and receiver.
Quick question has anyone had any problems using this device as a transmitter to control AV devices ?
Is anyone currently using this receiver/tranmitter and working fine ?
Or more to the point should I throw this receiver/transmitter to the nearest bin and get a USB UIRT.

any thoughts tips or links would be appreciated thanks :)
