My first though will be the D-Link DGE-528T drivers.

Linux drivers in this case. I am not sure if there is a list of known Network Cards that LinuxMCE had been tested.
So, try to find out if those cards (D-Link DGE-528T) are in the list, if YES, you will probably find the solution to your problem.
If there is such a list, you will see the models you can use.

No all the NICs (networks cards) will have linux drivers available.

Hi... just wanted to give  hand, but i do not understand a few things that you said.

First, what is usb ethernet and where are those connected to?

DHCP works as follow:

Internet<--------->router<-------->PC.

The router will give a IP address to the PC through a single connection.
If you have 2 PCs connected directly to the router, both PC will get an IP from the router.

Now, it looks that your network is 192.168.1.xxx with mask 255.255.255.0

So, your PCs should have 192.168.1.2 or greater with mask 255.255.255.0
The router will be 192.168.1.1 all the PC behind the router will have to be greater than 1.

If one of your PC is already 192.168.1.2, try the 2nd PC with the 192.168.1.3 or other with the mask 255.255.255.0

because i do not know your setup is in place, i ca not offer more specific help, but that is how it works in general.

I just want to explain why it does not work the way you set it up...

You have a router at your home, which it has 2 connections, an internal with the 192.xxx.xxx.xxx that is your privite network address and an external IP address which i do not know.

Intenet<---public IP address--->router<-----private IP---->Home PC

Well, when you are outside of your network, you can not see the Private Network (because you use a NAT), the IP address you can see will be you outside IP address (which i will call it public). Only the public IP address is publish and therfore you can see it.

The private IP address is not publish, so you can not see it.

In order to access your router, you need to create A VPN (or telnet) to you Public IP address.

Read about  VPN (virtual private network) connection and you will know what to do.

NOTE: IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx (among other ones) are not public, are reserve to be use for private networks.

There are two things come to my mind reading your post.

1._ The PC can not read the HDD, so boot again from the DVD and reformat the HDD and reinstall again.

2._ The BIOS setup on the PC need to be change. I do not know how old is you PC, so, usually when the PC tries to boot from a HDD, it looks at the IDE 0 if it does not find it, it goes through all the devices in the BIOS order boot list. Not boot device = error message.

Well, hope you still have your motherboard manual (if not, search on the web), there is a setup in the BIOS that will let the PC know that you are using the SATA 1, HDD and not the IDE 0. I do not know which motherboard you have, so you need to find that in the manual.

I will use an example to explain how it works.

When 2 people talk using the phone, each one of them need a phone in order to do so. The phones take care of the signals (format and/or protocol) that the phone use to transmit voice. But what happen if one the person has VoIP (voice over IP) that is digital signal and the other person regulart analog line!.

Well then they need a device between them that will understand both signaling in order to change from analog to digital and viceversa.

So, if you have a device that transmit HD signal, you will need at the other end a device that understand HD signal and then pass it to a TV, LCD, Etc.

The cable (ethernet) i just a medium through wich the signal is being transfer, HD can be transmited over the air also.

You just need to have the end devices to understand each other, the media could be cable or air does not matter.
