Users / using luckybackup to sync audio files
« on: July 11, 2010, 05:26:35 pm »
Hello,

I'm using Mce version 0704 and a dedicated core, I'm trying to synchronize the audio files on my core with the audio files that I keep on my ubuntu desktop machine version 910. I've attached the output log from Luckybackup, it appears that luckybackup is unable to make a directory on the core and if that is the case how could I go about and solve this problem? any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hello,

I have a desktop running ubuntu hardy heron and I am trying to synchronize my music files between this computer and my MCE core running version 7.10.

Here are my current paths in Unison:

root1:/home/greg/Music

root2:/ssh://greg@192.168.80.1home/public/data/audio

Using these paths Unison reports a Fatal Error lost connection with server.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

hello, I have a Asus N2MPV-VM acting as a dedicated core. The external NIC is connected to my cable modem and the internal NIC connected to a Netgear DGS 2208 switch. This setup worked perfectly with MCE 7.04 but after I did a clean install to 7.10 by installing Kbuntu 7.10 AMD and then the 2 cd 7.10 MCE I cannot seem to get the internal NIC to work. The indicator lamp does not light on the internal NIC or on the switch and I just cannot figure out why this internal lan port is inactive under the 7.01 version. In the MCE launch Manager under the view IP Adresses it lists the following info:

External_Iface=eth1
External_mac=00:18:E7:16:F8:07
External_IP= 68:3:33:91
External_Netmask=255.255.240.0

Internal_Iface=eth0
Internal_Mac=00:1B:FC:CB:88:88

Gateway=68.3.32.1
DNS1=68.105.28.11
DNS2=68.105.28.12

In the MCE browser under Network Settings Advanced tab I see this:

EXTERNAL_IFACE    eth1

Installation issues / Re: 7.10 dedicated core and network settings
« on: April 27, 2008, 04:52:38 pm »
agentc0re thanks for the reply, I've tried everything I could think of, I even purchased a netgear switch but no luck so I reinstalled 7.04 and everything works just fine. I did keep the switch so now my network looks like this..   core eth0 internal NIC to cable modem, core eth1 external NIC to netgear DGS2208 switch. I also plugged my office desktop, network printer and workshop computers into this switch and everything works great.

Im just baffled as to why 7.01 beta 4 does not work, I'll try the final release later.....

Thanks

Installation issues / 7.10 dedicated core and network settings
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:15:05 pm »
Hello,,

I've setup a dedicated core utilizing 7.10 beta 4 and a Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard with two NIC's. My current network configuration looks like this. Core external NIC (eth0) to cable modem ---- Core internal NIC (eth1) to linksys BESFX41 lan port 1, I've logged into the router and turned off DHCP and verified that DHCP is enabled on the Core yet I'm unable to get the network to communicate. does the BESFX41 need to  be setup with a static IP and gateway?  if so what would those be ?.

Thanks for your help

Installation issues / Re: 7.10 dvd install
« on: April 20, 2008, 08:59:26 pm »
Thanks for the reply Andrew,

But I went back and re-read the wiki (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installation_Guide) it seems like the two cd option is the only way to get a dedicated core. The only place that I deviated from the wiki is that I wanted to load the AMD 64 version and the link in the wiki is for the Kbuntu 7.10 I 386 version, so a short google search netted the 64 bit Kbuntu 7.01 and all is well.....

Thank you for your help

Installation issues / 7.10 dvd install
« on: April 19, 2008, 02:24:20 pm »
Hello I've been trying to upgrade a working 7.04 setup (dedicated core with two NIC's and acting as the DHCP router and seperate diskless media director, both systems using  Asus M2NPV-VM motherboards) to version 7.10 Beta 4. I downloaded the DVD Iso (LinuxMCE-DVD-0710Beta4-amd64.iso) and burned it to a dual layer DVD. I then proceded to upgrade the core by turning the system off and restarting with the the core with the disk inserted. The process seemed to go smoothly ( I chose to overwrite the existing 7.04 install) My problem seems to be that at no time does the installation process ask if this is to be a dedicated core or hybrid. The installation just reboots directly into the AV wizard. So my question to all of you knowledgeable people is how do I get this to install as the core/DHCP server

Thanks for your help

Users / resynconization of home folder
« on: October 14, 2007, 03:37:07 pm »
Hello, well I may have caused myself a big problem by resyncronizing my home folder on the core. Now when I use the on screen orbiter of my MD and scroll to Media-video and I would normally see just the AVI and MPEG movies I  stored on the core I now also see the following. Alarm panel found, Alarm sensors mpg, family members mpeg, greetings mpeg and this list goes on for three pages. It seams as if every video file it could find on the core it has copied or moved into the video folder. These various files have been copied into both the public and private video folders.   So I am hoping that someone could possibly explain how I may go about straighting up this mess that I seem to have gotten my self into.

Thank you for your help

My thought was that once the core (backend) was set up as the DHCP server I could remove the monitor, keyboard and mouse and change settings via my desktop computer on the wired lan. But as I read the instructions again it looks like I can do these operations through the frontends (orbiters?)

To all: Thank you for the info, I'll move off the wan port and over the lan on the router

Hello, I'm attempting to set up my core using a M2NPV-VM motherboard with 2 NIC's. I have the Cat5 running from the cable modem to the core NIC that I plugged into the PCI slot and a CAT5 leaving the motherboard NIC port going back to my BSFR linksys 4 port router switch. I've logged into my router and disabled DHCP, but I'm a little confused about what port to plug into on the router, does the CAT5 that leaves my MB NIC port go to the router WAN port or one of the other ports? Also are their other settings on this router that I must change so that my day to day home desktop ( which uses Ubuntu feisty fawn) can communicate withe the core?

Thanks for your help
