my problem is 150$ that i payed for FIRI remote control and until now i can't use it even i have Vista but the remote is limited to Linuxmce, i wish i didn't gone so quick with the Linuxmce since its still messy and land of bugs.

i have the same problem with two type of Nvidia cards, the only way you can overcome this problem is to downgrade your display option, while booting press and hold shift key and the configuration will come up, then chose the first item in the list where (static images).

there is more problem now in 710
can't use U2
playing video file is sucks
no seeking forward
feel nothing improved since 704

i hope the new release will fix and add the most wanted function in playing media files and other accessory we are willing to wait longer to get it. im eager to see what new update will hid for us.

Thom are you a developer of LMCE, you said "the media center was meant to hold MOVIES and RECORDED TV PROGRAMS (on a limited basis,"
if you are that is ok, but if not i should tell you that there is almost 20 MCE in the world and if LMCE didn't give us all that function we will find it someday with others then the big efforts in LMCE will be forgotten.

thom i will try ur advice but also i wish there is such function for folder view, this will make LMCE a big shot as i found it with other MCE but still MCE is the most reliable so far since most of us using media center for playing video/image/mp3s the other functions in LMCE is additional for us.

- read and show the file name as is
- show the file name size and duration before playing
- support for DVB-s cards
- expand the length of video seeking ruler to the size of screen
- slowdown the seeking inside the video when using gyro remote
- while playing next button should play the next file in the same folder
- slideshow/zoom/fit to screen images not there
- mp3s should have another skin or easy interface

this is also my problem (folder structure view) i don't know if LMCE showing all my video file that i have in the disk and i don't know the file belong to which folder i'm lost in the long list, i hope there is option or fix for that. also i hope LMCE will remember my select becoz i need to select my user as source every time after finish playing any video file to get my private folder otherwise always showing me the public.

i did the following as described by gilles.cresci


1/ go to /usr/pluto/bin
2/ ./LMCEUpdate_DownloadXml.sh
3/ ./LMCEUpdate
4/ still downloadind, however I guess I have to do
./LMCEUpdate_Apply.sh

Another way to perform system update is use the Orbiter:
  More --> Advanced Options --> Force Upgrade Now

then i reboot, installation take sometimes and give me lots of error one for instant Pluto error 1146

i had this problem and still its suffering because its not clear, so you need to update your LMCE to the latest sept 2007 then after reboot go to web admin and resync from file and media and after all of that note where u r while browsing your video coz u should click on ur user name and sometimes public to let the file appear. 

inside LMCE after one day i found in the screen update Available but i got only tow Icon (X) and return, so what should i do to get that update installed. any idea what is included in the update

i was able to do that thought the network by browsing the LMCE and login to the sahre and then past my files there, also i think its very easy to that in kubuntu just select all ur files and open the folder called public->data->video but if u want it to be in ur private folder u can't do it through the OS maybe its possible inside LMCE. don't forget to disable the firewall from web admin before accessing ur LMCE and use your LMCE user and password the use you create during setup wizard which is family members (not linux UID/Password) to access the share. then click on the folder of ur name and there u will find ur video folder

i wonder if i can use it with showshifter or other media center, also is there any tools to allow me to use it with other media center.

i just received Fiire Chief but in LMCE the media is not showing as i wish (folder view), its also annoying when u close video u need to click on ur user name to get the video that belong to u or all the time u will get Public video. Fiire Chief cost me 170$ and i want to be able to get what i pay for.
i try it with all windows media center and its just look like wireless gyro mouse (frankly speaking i was amaze by that function) but only FF/RR stop and move in the menu working not but not with all.

what is the standered of Fiire Chief

now i got some of my shared windows folder recognized by LMCE but some files are not showing only a few files, should i create sub-folder  with spicifc names to let LMCE read the files?
 

i have also one problem that i can't and don't want to change (one NIC on LMCE with no DHCP), i have my wireless modem/router which is working fine with any wireless and eth link to internet and between my PC. if i make DHCP on LMCE this means i will not SHUTDOWN LMCE or will end up with problem with my home netwrok. my modem is stable and has everything for the network .

???if i have LMCE to control my home network with two NIC, i have to build the system with very fast and costly hardware to make sure it will handle everything like Firewall, DHCP, Proxy to internet, and without any interruption if while i play Video or media.

so the question here, am i bale to mount the windows share folder in LMCE even i have one NIC with no DHCP.
