Installation issues / Re: MD5 from wiki link does not match the download...

Regardless of checksum discrepancies, I have been able to successfully install Kubuntu from the live CD. Now I am focusing on fixing the next of my probelms:

1) nVidia Driver (7050/630a)
2) and more urgently my Ralink chipset wifi, which should help with #1

In case anyone stumbles on this with disc install issues, part of my problem with previous install attempts was due to a faulty IDE cable on the boot drive which caused a NO DISC error after I had unknowingly performed a complete Kubuntu Live install. It appears my disc burning was not as bad as I had thought. And I didn't download of the chibiko mirror.

Okay, so where can I find a link to a DVD ISO that isn't damaged?

I posted in a new topic, but I originally was getting the Grub Loading 1.5 error from the Kubuntu Live CD.  But after trying two downloads of the DVD (the second one began installing but received an error), I ran the md5 and noticed that none of my downloads matched, not even the "Official Torrent". So unless I can get a good checksum, Im stuck with a Grub Load Error.

I originally tried the 3 CD method, with no luck. (I get the Grub 1.5 loading error after Kubuntu install).

Then I tried two downloads of the DVD, the second one got me to Checkpoint 480,000 or so before giving me

Code: [Select]
gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--format violated
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

So I decided to do what most people would have already done: run the checksum. I downloaded a small file called md5.exe, and none of the checksums match. Not even the one I was linked to from the "Official Torrent" at linuxmce.org (the other was a random torrent search).

So, before I try to reburn this DVD (or worse yet, re-download it), does anyone have any recommendations? Why doesn't the checksum match for the official torrent file!?

Thanks for the help,
noob

Ran into the same problem...

Brand new system with an Athlon 64 X2 5600+ CPU and am having to install the 32 bit version of Kubuntu...

I'm trying the DVD quick install first and ran into some problems, but hopefully will have them resolved without having to do a Kubuntu I386 and then Linux MCE install ...

So what's the news?? I too am in the same boat, can't get any of the install methods to work for me.
