If there is a pause in between theses screens. If you see the linuxMCE window click video and click reset resolution. This will reset your pc, and ask you to do the graphics and sound setup again. when you get to the interface options set it on low; then finish the setup. It also helps if you chose not to start LinuxMCE automatically until you get your settings working.

You cant hook it up to you tv as far as I know. You need a graphics card with an s-video out. I would suggest an nvidia chipset, because ATI's S-video is known to be very difficult to get working with an Xwindows system(in other words anything more than a text interface in linux).

If all you want is to use your tv as a monitor then this probably wont be the OS for you. Ubuntu  or Kubuntu would work fine if thats all you wanted. If you do chose to use LinuxMCE then i would suggest a remote because I find if difficult to just use a keyboard and mouse as I don't know any of the shortcut buttons, and I can't find a list.

If your DVR,and pc has a fire wire aka IEEE port you should be able to plug it into your computer and have no need for any tuner cards, as for recording multiple shows at once it depends on mythTV and your DVR. If it doesn't let you record more than one you might be able to trade in your DVR for multiple boxes without DVR no point in using a DVR if you can record on your pc(this would either require multiple tuners or multiple IEEE ports). Also if your box doesn't have an IEEE port you can call your television provider and see if you can specially request one that does.

Note: not all boxes with IEEE ports are compatible with mythTV it would be best to see if you can test it before you spent the extra cash.

No its not required. But if you wish you could get the computer install linux MCE and just get the card later, but I wouldn't suggest getting an x16 card right off as you might need a higher end graphics card.

I have an Xtasy 550 pro, and no its not compatible, and when I sent an e-mail to the manufacturer about this they essentially responded we do not nor do we ever intend to support linux. so we are out of luck.

I am currently on working on ways around this, but they all involve running linux on one pc and windows on a seconds. sorry.

I am using an old radeon 9200 PCI, and am running it on medium. They dont even sell this model any more.

It could be that your card doesn't work with its default driver. Tell me does your KDE desktop work with the card?

Help Wanted / Linux MCE and Windows MCE

I have two computers one running Linux MCE and the other running windows MCE. Is it possible to use the guide and recording listings from windows MCE in mythtv via some translation program? This could solve the problem with zap2it shutting down the mythtv free guide listings for those who have both MCE. I need to keep one running windows because my tv tuner is not compatible with mythtv.
