Are there areas that offer DVB signals as well as ATSC/NTSC signals?

I would love to have the VDR option available in the US.  Any chance that it will be ported to ATSC/NTSC?

I tried the FTP first and it got about 10%, then has been stopped for a couple hours.

When it stopped, I tried the torrent.  It's been going for about 3 hours, I just checked and it now has just 3 weeks 0 days left.  When I DL'd beta 2 off the torrent, it finished in just a few hours.  I hope this thing speeds up soon.

Installation issues / post install steps
« on: January 08, 2008, 08:56:10 pm »
I've been able to install 7.10 with no problems by following the install tutorial.  What I need now, is a "post installation steps" tutorial.  What "needs" to be done for any installation, what "needs" to be done for media, for light control, etc...

I stumbled thru the admin web page and found a few things, and was finally able to re-sync my media, but then I read a message in the forum about the manual re-sync not working correctly.

I really like the idea behind LMCE, it's really what I've been looking for for years.  I would just like a little more info to work with on my "play" system.  I am working on a hybrid set-up, as soon as it is working well, I will set up 2 MD's soon.

Thanks for the work you guys have done.

BTW - I messed up some settings while playing around last night (now wont start up), and will re-install from DVD tonight.  I don't mind doing this, because I am just learning.  I am installing on a 40G system drive and have a 250G drive with music, movies (very few), and pix already on it.

Users / Install hard disk with media
« on: January 02, 2008, 07:53:49 pm »
I installed 7.04 several months ago, and then added a half dozen ripped CD's and a lot of music.  Then I didn't really have time to work with the system, so it just sat there.

Over the holidays, I installed an old 40G drive as my boot drive and installed 7.10.  This install went very smoothly, BTW.  Now I want it to see the media that's on the old drive, but cannot figure out how to get it to see those directories.

I have all the music on an external drive, and I could re-rip the few DVD's that I have on the internal drive if I need to format and start over with my media drive.  If I do that, what steps are involved.

I did a few searches and couldn't find what I was looking for, and I know some Solaris basics, but I don't have any linux background.

Users / Re: Network Setup
« on: September 04, 2007, 11:00:25 pm »
OK - Now I'm a bit confused.

Here's my current setup:

Modem ==> wireless router ==> 5 port switch ( in the junction box ) ==> LMCE box
                                     ==> Main home PC                              ==> Future MD's
                                     ==> 2 laptops via wireless

The Modem is in the same room as the main PC and really can't move anywhere else.  I only have a single cat 5 in that room, so I need the router there to feed the main PC and the switch that is in the main junction box of the house.  From that box I connect whatever room needs to be connected, including the theater room (also only 1 cat 5 wire) where the LMCE box sits.  If I were to make the LMCE box the DHCP, then it would need to be running all the time, and I'm a tinkerer, so  I will shut that box down, but still need the rest of the network.  How could this be set up?  Isn't there a way to have a PXE boot device find the LMCE box that is not set up as a DHCP?

Installation issues / Re: avwizard problem
« on: August 31, 2007, 12:15:26 am »
I've read the AVWizard wiki page before, but it doesn't address the issue I have.

This is an NTSC set - it has a VGA port, but that port is limited to 640/480.  I am connecting with component, and the set is capable of 1080i resolution.

where do you adjust the frequency?  is that what the 3rd box in the avwizard is supposed to be?  When Component is used, there is nothing in that 3rd box.

I didn't really see very good video or audio outputs from those.  At a minimum you want to have HD out and sp/dif.

Sorry to sound naive, but what functions are you able to use the 770 for with LMCE?

Installation issues / avwizard problem
« on: August 29, 2007, 12:32:47 am »
I'm setting up LMCE on a box with a nVidia 6200 graphics card.  It seemed to install fine, said it found an nVidia card and I said 'yes' to using the nVidia drivers.  My card is driving a 65" Mitsu via Component cable (no DVI/HDMI on this set).  When it boots up, and goes into the AVwizard, I have a black screen, so I hit the key to switch to "component" and I see the AV setup screen, great!  Now the problem comes in.  It doesn't matter what resolution I select, it flickers a bunch, then goes black, then comes back up to the AV setup screen.  I can't get past it.
